Good to see everyone again- or for the first time, in a few cases! If you're new here, I'd like to introduce myself as Karin. I'm an Arcanine, and I'm learning how to be a proper, helpful, and benevolent goddess by taking care of my home universe! Thanks to some very kind and caring deities who I recently met, I've been granted a tremendous amount of power to use in helping others, and I do my best to practice and improve every single day!
For instance, although I'm most CERTAINLY not ready to create new life, I can create new planets, stars, solar systems, galaxies, and so on. Several of the local civilizations have developed efficient means of galactic travel, so I like to make sure they have plenty of worlds to explore. I know a lot of deities are really into the 'instant creation' thing, since it's so easy to just snap your fingers and have a fancy new galaxy to show off, but I've really taken a liking to doing them by hand- they have a lot more personality when you give them individual attention!
stampy was kind enough to draw this sketch of Karin in a recent livestream! I've managed to watch several of his streams lately, and he's got some impressive tricks at his disposal for creating macro pictures- that dragon knows his stuff!

Huh … her comment near the end, about how letting civilizations evolve naturally brings out more personality than setting them up instantaneously sort of sounds like an author describing the advantages of emergent, or character based plot. In any story the plot may be all powerful and can set up … anything, really, but the story will always have more personality and livelihood if the reason behind something is “this character has a this personality, and decided to do this which resulted in this” as opposed to “This happened because the plot demands it”
With her kind of power, that statement sounds a bit more literal than most people might intent it to be. It seems like she has just as much control over what happens in her universe as an author does in whatever world they might think up. I wonder what sort of stories play out amongst the mortals in her charge, and how things remain interesting to her if she can instantly solve every problem. Not to mention, she's got eternity to deal with. Just how long /can/ they remain interesting? Well ... a lot longer, for sure, if she opts to /not/ instantly solve every minor problem that pops up.
She does have that kind of power, yes, but she doesn't exercise it. She serves under the AEsir pantheon, led by Inari and Fenris from (revised) versions of their original mythology. One of the changes I made to their history when designing them was that Fenris decided to rebel against his father Loki's control, furious that his own dad would try to manipulate fate to make him into a weapon rather than actually care about him as a son. So one of the defining rules of the worlds under his care is that he wants them to have free will, to make decisions on their own for better or worse. Karin and the other deities of the Pantheon aren't there to make sure everyone's lives are forever perfect, but to train and develop cultures and worlds until they're ready to make those decisions for themselves.
Karin in particular was chosen from every single creature in her home universe, both across all its space and all its time. The AEsir decided she would be the most willing, able, and appropriate guardian and guide for her home universe, and so they ascended her from her former mortal status and trained her to act as a universal guard dog. So even though she has enough power to solve any problem that might arise, her first instinct is always to try to help the people of her worlds learn to solve it on their own.
