First, the monster. He stands tall, even though he is a beast. A creature. Simple as that. People have told him to his face, that he’s a monster. He has no reason to refute that. But he doesn’t look like a monster. It’s all hidden, it’s all inside. He is broken inside, torn, trashed, and beaten. It may not show, but the pain is there. The twistedness is there. And he won’t let it win.
Second, is the door. It is chaotic, it is terrifying. It is supposed to be. This is a door everyone must face at some point in their lives. Behind it lays their greatest hopes and dreams, come true. Behind that door, lays everything he wants. His dreams, what he’s truly greedy for. Not simple goods, no…love is the secret hidden behind there. He knows the truth, he knows the cure for the brokenness inside. He needs only to be loved. But the door is not simply opened. It burns the paws that touch it, it requires blood to budge so much as an inch. It eats time, wastes away those who push at it. These are the prices, that it seems we must pay, simply to truthfully smile. To be happy. At last.
Last, is the purpose. There are many out there who think, monsters like this don’t deserve what’s behind that door. They are wrong. There are many who think monsters can only hurt. They are wrong. There are so many monsters who let that fact of what they are define them. He is different. He has felt the pain, he has been shattered, but he still holds onto kindness. He may make mistakes, and he may mess up…but his purpose, is to open this door. Because if he can become happy again, if he can save himself from the brokenness, he will prove that it’s possible. He will prove, that even for the hopeless, there is hope. So he pushes at the door, he endures the pain each and everyday, not only for his own sake, but the sake of so many hurt beings. One day he will open that door, and maybe, just maybe, things will change.
