I'd have chosen a slight light black or gone over those black areas with a lighter tone to show more of the muzzle =D
We need to make you look at those abs and muscle and start with darker tones and work up a bit more, to make em buldge. You showed shading, but not enough. Be more bold =3 Ivy tells me that all the time too- it comes down to making brighter highlights, better blending, and darker shadows.
