T. Matt Latrans with a mid-season update from week 9 of the 2010-2011 season!
PRODUCTION NOTES: First off, I know... this is way too late.
My sincerest apologies to everyone who was waiting for this episode, especially to all the wonderful attendees to my Voice Acting Workshop panel at Further Confusion 2011, where most of the cutaways were recorded. I really have a hard time knowing what to say about how badly delayed this episode was-- I could blame it on all the work I've been putting into the FBA project lately through stories and artwork, I could blame it on my day job and how demanding it's been this year, I could blame it on the new recording studio I built over the last few months that was supposed to make production faster and easier but ended up just making me lay down more and more wire... I really don't know what it was. But with Further Confusion 2012 just around the corner, I'm VERY happy to have this finally made and ready to share.
And I owe a huge thanks to all the talented people that came to my panel at FC2011. I had an incredible time leading the panel. I was thrilled to see so many people willing to get up early on a Saturday morning to attend, and even more thrilled by the wonderful voices that stepped up to the microphone and gave me these fantastic performances. Without talented people like you, this podcast would have never gotten started. And it is with all of you in mind that I kept pushing myself to finally get this episode finished-- even if it took far longer than I could have expected.
A few voices didn't make it into the final cut, and to those talented furs, I apologize. Please don't think that I felt your performance wasn't good enough-- there were all kinds of crazy reasons I would choose one performance over another. Sometimes it was simply a matter of those heavy doors messing up one person's take, sometimes it was a matter of being able to edit together a clear cut, there were all kinds of reasons that had nothing to do with performance. If you did perform at the panel and don't hear it here, you can contact me to give you the audio from it. Just let me know.
Finally, I have submitted my Voice Acting Workshop panel to Further Confusion 2012 and am anxiously waiting to hear if they'll open up space at the con for me. If I do get to hold my panel, I sincerely hope to see many of you there again for another recording-- and a finished podcast much sooner than it took this time!
Thanks again!

Awesome!! Glad you like it, Muddypaws. Thanks for being so patient... and for delivering such a great performance! I know it's hard to really throw yourself into a performance in front of a lot of people like that. I really appreciate you giving everything you did to the mic. :)
Thanks BuckHopper. I had a BLAST! I have to confess I had some theater arts work just out of high school (like 30 years back) but even we never did this kind of stuff.
I sure hope the FC staff give you a chance to do this again in January. I still am astonished how I sound, because I never thought I'd actually sound like that.
Dang... this was COOL! I had so much FUN because of all your hard work and effort.
Thanks a bunch!

And of course how could I forget this one, that sent just about all of us into uncontrolled giggles...

Nonononono, not at all. I've got 2 more episodes in the hopper to finish, one of which is the episode you're in.
Still got the Furry Fiesta 2011 / FA:United 4 episode (yours) and the Anthrocon 2011.
I am WAY behind. But I'm hoping to start revving on these episodes now and have everything caught up before the New Year. *cross fingers*

Ahh... forgive me, Buck, but I just came across an issue with this episode. I hope you don't mind a small bit of criticism. When Wagner and Ray get together and start bantering, it almost appears as if they're in different places. You can hear Ray's voice echoing, as if he's in some kind of auditorium, but when you hear Wagner talking, it's almost like's in a studio, right up to the mic. Doesn't really sound right. A bit inconsistent, rather. Even when you hear T.Matt talking among them, his voice also echoes like Ray's does, but again, Wagner's doesn't. Just wanted to point that out.
Yeah, Wagner's lines were recorded in a studio while Ray's lines were recorded at FC2011, where I was in that giant auditorium with tons of verb. I added a reverb effect to Wagner's lines to try to match the two, but matching reverb is a tricky business-- I thought I'd done a decent job that would hold up after the music was mixed in, but sorry you found it distracting.
I still think you did a decent job! I think the fact that no one else brought this up (meaning they probably didn't notice it) should be evidence enough that you did a decent job. I think it's more the fact that I do so much voice over stuff, that I tend to notice and pick up on these things more than a lot of people. But don't feel bad! Honestly, I'm quite sure your attempts to fix it were probably miles ahead of anything I could have done.
