Turns out the fruit was not poisonous. The exact opposite in fact. Within seconds its core lay completely stripped of meat on the ground. That little snack was amazingly refreshing, at least satiating Zandra's hunger as she licked the remnets of berry juice from her claws.

A joy short lived as a jolt suddenly rocked through her body. Zandra fell back against the tree, soft pants and moans escaping her muzzle at the feeling of thousands of hands petting across her fur. The battle wounds throbbed and tears began to leak from her eye sockets.

And then, much to her astonishment, her right eye began to open...
