25 miles out from Burvii Prison, Burge Region.

We had done it; we had sprung Sergeant Grimm and the other two P.O.W from Burvii Prison. The careful planning of this mission proved successful. One of the P.O.W managed to start a riot within Burvii to create a diversion. While the guards were preoccupied, we managed to break up through the main gate. Soon, the guards were over powered and we managed to save Grimm from his ongoing torture and interrogation. The prison was brutal to him; I saw it from his bruises, cuts and burns upon his face and upper body. We planned for evac. 25 miles out from Burvii. The near sub-zero temperature and high winds of the Burge Region made the 25 mile path to our pick up unnerving.

Only two miles out from Burvii and my unit and I soon began to truly feel the sharp effects of Burge’s deathly winter storms. Near the 10 mile mark, some have already succumb to the brutal weather and we had to carry them over our shoulders, putting on more weight than some of my men could bare upon their shoulders. Still, their morale held fast and we continued trudge through the 3 foot thick snow. They had faith in my ability to lead them, and it seemed to be the only reason why they had not gave in to the devastating conditions. We eventually made it to the evac. point and I radioed for our transport.

Sadly, I had to give the unbelievable news that the weather was too dangerous to receive evac at this point. After I had told them, I could see in their eyes the pain and doubt they were experiencing. It is killing me to watch my men suffer through this harsh climate. They are huddling together for warmth and some are soon ready to faint from exhaustion. We have limited supplies at the moment.

I fear that I may fail my unit; our supplies at our disposal only give us a 48 hour window for survival. If we do not get out of this god forsaken region soon, we will surely die and I will have failed them… all of them… which to me… is worse than death…
