Well there are part that are like that, but not all of the south.

It's a sad fact that it only takes one or two to give the rest a bad name. And stereotypes come from somewhere.

Orange Tabby looks NOTHING like a Bobcat and it doesn't act like one.

Would love to see them up close with a real and pissed off Bobcat.

Feline Chainsaw.

I was in the mountains in northern CA a few years back and had been sitting on a rock outcropping just enjoying the view of the valley for about an hour. When I finally stood up to leave, and turned around, I saw what appeared to be a bobcat cub go under a rock about 25 feet away. I ran over and jumped up on the rock that was only about a foot high and almost landed on top of MAMA who was laying just on the other side. She got up and ran about 20 feet before she realized I was standing on top of her kids, turned and came back to within about ten feet and stopped and started making a humming and hawing sound. I was not afraid what so ever and just felt bad that I had disturbed them and that I HAD FORGOT THE DARN CAMERA. I stepped back off the rock, peeked under, saw cubs, then started talking to her while slowly backing up and around. She kept pace the same distance for about a hundred feet and finally stopped. I was speaking to her the entire time, probably mostly apologies. She watched me till I was out of sight. A wonderful experience.

Probably would have experienced the chainsaw part if I had reached under the rock;)

Bobcats are more or less the Kung Fu masters of the cat world. Lynx are close but slower.

sigh. I love living in the south, but I can't stand some of the other southerners. The trophy room comment makes me even more depressed. If he really said that, then someone needs to make sure he doesn't have a collie in there mistaken for a coyote or someone's guinea pig labeled ground hog. I have these kinds of arguments a lot though sadly. Telling people that no, a tiger and a lion are not the same thing, a fox is indeed a canine, and a hyena is not, that its a vulture not a buzzard, and a black panther is not a separate species.

I lived in the south for six years. I heard hunters bragging about the "sound shot" kills they had made while deer hunting. That is shooting into thick brush at a noise assuming it was a deer. (They were really serious about it) This is the ultimate in red neck stupidity.
