The first of my "Bands of Equestria" ideas. Sort of. I had a long list of ideas before this one, but the (relatively) seasonal nature of the band prompted me to do it first. I can honestly say that when I think of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra I first think "Carol of the Bells." Plus, once I got the idea, the Trans-Equestrian Orchestra struck me as making music that both Octavia and Vinyl Scratch could enjoy at the same time! (head explode, right?)

As part of these ideas I've been looking in to the bands' memberships and thinking about appropriate character designs. Before looking at the real Trans-Siberian Orchestra I imagined an actual orchestra that incorporated a drum set and some electric instruments. I had no idea that it was a more traditional rock band (WTF, oxymoron much?!) with a much wider base of instruments and members. There were seriously way too many people for me to draw. So I did the next best thing and threw away my initial plan for the series, and simply incorporated enough characters to get the point across.

Anyway.
Octavia on her contrabass (electric version, why not?)
Vinyl Scratch on keyboard and other effects
Powr Kord on guitar (I don't think anyone else has realised just how broken unicorn magic could be - dual wielding double guitars?! Hell yes!)
Shockwave on drums (I imagine that earth pony drums would be like a giant game of DDR)
Heartstrum on bass (I needed a pegasus - plus what band isn't complete without a hunk who's good with his mouth. How else would a pegasus play a guitar?!)
The two mystery ponies from Sweet and Elite on violins (at least I couldn't find anywhere that listed them yet)
Frederick Horseshoepin on grand piano
Derpy Hooves on triangle (a late spontaneous addition when I was doing the title)

Powr Kord, Shockwave, and Heartstrum are OCs that I whipped up to fill in the blanks.

I hadn't considered drawing someone as a vocalist, so I guess that's on Derpy. I know I'm going to regret that...
