#113 Chansey - Such a beautifully simple design. This sketch took me like a few minutes at coffee. I have always thought Chansey is okay, but honestly I have never had great fondness for it. Not really sure why. (But frankly, I do not like Happiny or Blissey any better.)
#499 Pignite - Pignite is cute in kind of a lovable fat kid sort of way. I also chose Tepig in my first play of Black, so of course I like Pignite. I do not think we needed another Fire/Fighting starter line, especially with some of the awesome Fighting-type Pokémon that showed up in fifth gen, but to be fair it is built differently from the previous two generations, even if that way is kinda meh. Also I know Pignite cannot learn Fire Punch, but it so should.
#516 Simipour - This pose is about what I was thinking about Simipour when I drew it. Meh, whatever. Because in spite of having used it, and now drawn it, I still do not care for it. I even grew fond of Zubat and Tentacool with time, which are incredibly annoying to most people, but not Panpour/Simipour, so that is saying something. And really, it is fairly unremarkable in use, especially when there are much better Water-types available. So I am glad to be done with Simipour now. On a side note, I have discovered no proof that it can open its eyes, and in character designs that really bothers me.
#261 Poochyena - SO CUTE! I love Poochyena! Of the seven Pokémon on this page, Poochyena is the only one I have drawn before and I have still never made it look quite this cute. Yeah, Poochyena is not really great in the games (Mightyena is decent), but that does not make it any less lovable. I might actually color this one, I love it.
#306 Aggron - Lackluster sketch for a cool Pokémon. Honestly, I like Aron's and Lairon's designs better, but I still think Aggron is pretty neat, and it is definitely something to be feared in battle. Huge Defense, good Attack, lots of resistances. If the internet has it right, it will Head Smash your shit. (And it can have Rock Head as an ability, so no recoil. Sweet.)
#217 Ursaring - Actually I have never been crazy about Ursaring. Yeah, it is kinda cool, and Teddiursa is cute, but by the time it is available (except in XD, in which case the nature is just never quite right), I have a lot of other things in my team that I would rather be using. For Normal-types, I prefer Tauros, which is available pretty early in GSC/HGSS. Also I think the muzzle is supposed to be right up against the eyes, but I can do this one again fast if anyone really cares enough.
#564 Tirtouga - This is the first time I have ever drawn anything like a turtle before, and I think it turned out okay. I am using one in Black right now, and honestly I am a little frustrated with it because its moves are not great. As a fossil Pokémon, though, I think it is pretty cool, and I am sure things will improve once it evolves into Carracosta (or I take it upon myself to give it better moves). It is actually kinda cute, and the call it has in the games helps with that, so sorry I cannot really portray it all. Also, when drawing this, I realized an odd resemblance to Lapras. (Perhaps Lapras descended from Tirtouga or relatives? Ah, speculation.)
I would say what is next but does it really matter since I post several at a time, anyway? Also I forgot so neh.
