Hi everyone! Been real busy on a project lately, but since I haven't been sharing anything it occurs to me things look pretty quiet out here on my page. So... here's a bit from what I've been working on.
Some of you may remember a story I wrote years and years ago. It has three titles; the text file was saved as "HowTo", I called it "Reflections", but the readers themselves called it The "Helliad." What ever you want to call it, I'm going to be revisiting it... weekly web-comic style. In Color!
Here's one of my warm-ups for this project, a picture of Oni, a teenage witch (Hey, that's the name I go by!) and Chess, a centuries old demoness, having an argument. In this one, it looks like Oni is winning.

I do have trouble doing backgrounds, and I'm specifically trying to work around it. Its mostly an issue of being lazy; You know everyone's eyes will be on the faces, the cocks, the gun, or what ever is the most interesting thing in a scene. For a background, heck, you could get away with just tilting a cement pattern to what ever shape is needed. (Like I did in Uberfuchsin)
But, as I move forward, I'm trying to take some lessons from Joseph Wight, creator of Antarrctic Press's "Twilight X" (Example: http://www.eidalon.de/_previews/tx010000.jpg), and Tony Moore, from "Walking Dead" and "Battle Pope" (Example:http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/.....omanen/p01.jpg), both of whoom spend an exceptional amount of time on their backgrounds. In Wight's case, I actually think his character designs are overly simplistic, but if he has to draw a college auditorium full of students, the man draws sixty thousand little folding chairs, different poses and people in each one, fully detailed lighting and sound on the stage... super impressive stuff. One of these days, I've got to actually *read* Twilight X...

Of course, those links work better without the parenthesis...

And, you know, no exciting background work here, but there *is* a scantily clad demoness:

Ah, sweet Battlepope.

I really liked this picture. It is simple and yet says alot.It shows a side of both charicters that we don't see. Sure we know they exist but we don't see it as often so this is a real treat.
Anyhow, the picture looks great and the one after this one does to. I think the comic idea would be awsome, and umm did the story ever get posted that these pictures are coming from and if so any chance we could read it ?
Keep up the awsome work Oni.

I think the comic idea is a wonderful one. And this picture turned out great! *chuckle* Fine surprise for me, seeing it, and I'm in it :) I must say, I think you're getting even better at showing emotions in your art...and you certainly weren't bad at it before, not by a long shot. The faces tell the whole story, even without need of a caption.
Slightly off-topic...what's that avatar pic? I don't think I've ever seen that image before.

Actually, the avatars I use here are just quick sketches I do in Photoshop. They're so tiny, I don't need much detail or anything. Usually, its to get across the mood I'm in. So far, my two moods have been: working, and sleeping. (To cover the weeks of overtime, followed by a few days off) Now I'm switching back to my working icon, but someday soon I need to draw a 'happily turning out artwork' icon for those occassions when, well, you know...
