Decided after seeing a few examples online, to build an old style monster hunters travel kit. These were kits often issued to certain hunters and priests by the church (or other providers) with blessed items and specimens, and weapons to guard the traveler on trips through "unsafe" or "damned" lands.
I decided to make a kit that would have been circa mid to late 19th century.
I also decided, that if I was going to make it, I was going to make it as real as possible. Kit was designed to be not only for protection and monster hunting, but with research and data collecting in mind as well.
Contents:
*1 LeMatt 9-shot revolver with a 20ga shotgun barrel (and all the accouterments needed to fire it)
*Sterling silver pellets for the shot gun
*12 yards of jute rope (as for the 12 apostles and 12 tribes of Israel)
*Sketch book/journal
*Silver coins
*Sterling silver rosary with 12 silver beads
*polished iron crucifix
*Apothecary jar for Aconitnum lycoctonum (wolfsbane)
*3 labeled specimen jars of different subspecies of werewolves
*1 jar with werewolf fore-claw and fang
*Cloves of garlic
*2 wooden stakes
*Holy bible
*Collapsible tin candle holder with candles
*Telescoping spy glass
*Jar natural sea salt (for demons and spirits)
*Bottle of spirits (alcohol, rum of course *wink*)
*Wind-able pocket watch
*Pocket knife and razor
*Specimen tongs
*Bottle of holy water (from the baptismal site at the Jordan river)
*Silver ring with lapis lazuli
*Smudge stick
*Spirit totem (of an arctic wolf)
*Prayer beads
*Slightly burnt werewolf photo
*Letters of warning to the holder of the kit
*Pages of different monster sketches and bios (from an FA Artist, but since didn't ask permission, I didn't want to post it on the internet incase they get upset)
*Small Latin blessing/enchantment to protect from minor demons when sleep and wake
*Wooden mallet
*Small vial or gold leaf
*Small vial of anointing oil
Can't tell, but behind the pistol and stakes is velvet lined. jars are packed in with wheat straw to prevent rattling and breakage during transport.
Thought, while I'm doing this, I might as well get it close to the real thing as I can. Heck, might even find a priest willing to "bless it just for laughs".

Well, if i leave out the modern uses and meanings for this stone, for old world traditional lore:
It has been mined since 4000 BC in the same mines where it is still gathered today. It was the 5th stone on the breastplate of the Jewish high preast (the word saphire used in those times more likely was lapis instead of the clear gem), Heavily used in egypt as for being close to the gods and a symbol for truth and wisdom. In the eastern Islamic traditions, it was used for protection from the evil eye. In mideival europe, it was used to counteract the wiles and spirits of darkness (while invoking good spirits). Buddhist used it to create freedom from negative thought. And when ground into a powder, it was a dye heavily used by Michelangelo to paint the holy scene of the Sistine chapel. And many other significant things over time and culture.
So, basically it had a lot of "ward off bad, summon good" conotations through history.

You did preety good your missing plane water, wolfs bane, and rice ((the story about the rice to sum it up if they find rice they got to count it....I don't get it but you would get a leg up)) but to me you got what you need but a flash bang and sliver tipped cross bow bolts works wonders same with a flare gun close range :p
