And yet believable! Families can be such complex constructs at times XD
Having a drink together. But if you're looking for an actual word, I'd say something along the lines of "Zdrastvuyte!" ^.^
(I was surprised you went with "hallo"... I guess that variation is common enough)
When you have one thrown at you and it misses!

Confused cody is the best Cody ever :D
I'm loving this exchange and the assault on Champaign amuses me. Mmmm I want to have the tigers drink Calvados is that wrong?
AIEEE my eye! that was a great background I love the angry face on cody's father
All around this was an awesome addition thanks for doing it!

Remember, the tradiional Russian drink is vodka, which is roughly 80 proof. Champagne tends to be 24 proof.
(Note: While it's the traditional Russian drink, it's not the traditional Russian refreshment. That would be kvass, a flavored drink brewed from bread that runs 1-2 proof. In Russia, that's the stuff you give children, or that you drink when you don't want to get drunk.)

It sure was!
I like how Vlad is inspecting the room while everyone else is exchanging words, it's funny! Also, him throwing away the champgne and in the last pannel it hit someone down on the street/sidewalk was pretty funny! And Cody's face as he's being hugged to death by Georgiy is hilarious!
Wonder what's going to happen next!

Ahh...Giving body cramping, spine breaking hugs....The memories. <3 *wags tail*
I'm all for a drink, but really? Under the bed or in the closet? You'd think underneath the towel on the stand would be obvious enough. XD Though ouch...Russian for French Champagne....Yeah. XD I like his idea of tryin to get drunk. XD
This'll be in interesting story at the bar. Though I'm sure enjoying Georgiy's cuddlyness all the while. ^^
Ouch...Champagne bottle in the eye, that's gotta leave a mark. XD

This is true. I was perhaps a slight bit focused on Gregoriy. A slight bit. Cuddly and all you know.
It sort of makes sense. Being Gregoriy has a sort of well of father and seemed to enjoy laying around and plotting. While Cody is abit more hyperactive :3
There definately should be cheering for Gergoriy. He could be my mishka any day. Even if he is a stripeycat :3

Much as I'm not liking him (look how he already hurt someone) I will have to agree with Vladimir about the champagne. I mean, really, champagne? No wonder Cody thought something else was going on, what an odd choice of beverage for a family reunion. A family reunion that it seems nobody but him knew about, so, I don't know.
Funny thing about the Russian speak is how you sometimes substitute the W's for V's. I thought it was Germans who did that?
And what a peculiar set of siblings. One's full-out American, the other full-out Russian. Then again, I am full-out Puertorican and have a full-out American older brother that I only get to see once every some years, so maybe I'm not one to talk...

Well, I personally find champagne to be for posh get-togethers and romantic stuff (hence Cody's train of thought). Something expensive could've been a good dinner.
It also depends on the kind of person, of course. My brother comes to visit once every few years (he and his wife and daughters are coming on the 21st this month after about 3 years and I'm giddy... except for his older daughter, she's a jerk) and the things he asks for? A homecooked meal and beer, cause my bro loves his beer, and wouldn't you know, I own a bar... and he can't take freebies. I charge money to my own brother who I rarely see, but business is business. XD
But yeah, it all depends on the person and the occasion, so I guess that's why I see maybe a big dinner in a good restaurant as being the expensive way to give a treat to a relative you ain't seen in ages. As for now, I ponder what Cody's dad's explanation will be for never telling his son about how he has an uncle and cousin. Even with Vladimir's secret agent stuff, it's kind of harrd to swallow that Cody's dad never said anything to him. Also, we don't know yet if Cody's mom knows about Vladimir and Georgiy.

If Georgiy out-muscles Cody now, imagine if he actually worked out... @_@
For someone who hates capitalists, Vlad sure has a free way with expensive, evil capitalist champagne. >.> Let me guess: he's really searching for hidden microphones while "searching for the drink", right? :)
I'm not sure if it was your intent, but Vlad comes across as something of an alcoholic. Or is he playing up to the vodka-blooded Russian stereotype?
I'm actually a bit surprised that Vlad is that closely related to Karl. It'd seem more convincing if they were distant cousins, but for brothers, Karl seems amazingly Americanized! And it seems likely the KGB would keep closer tabs on people closely related to their top agents - not letting them be corrupted by evil capitalist ways! ...Unless Karl and his wife are undercover agents, and Cody's real name is Nikita Frostovsky! @_@ (Somehow I think Jake would find that really hot.)

Well, look at his father!
Lotsa people have suggested that. It's a funny thought!
Little of column a, little of column b. Iunno, maybe it's just cuz James Bond seems like an alkie too
I think Cody's a bit too easily flustered to be an agent XD I think you can guess Karl's been in the US quite awhile!

Oh my gawd can I have Georgiy? Looks like he is an expert in giving hugs!
Poor Cody's dad. I think he had imagined the family reunion to work out a bit different. Having the right drink for Russian family can be difficult. If you don't have vodka they might be wrong and if you have vodka it might be the wrong one
I like how the first thing Vlad does is searching the room for bugs. Some habits are hard to drop.
I'm sure in the bar he'll have a place with the back to the wall from were he can watch all exits...

I love getting a good, strong squeeze ^^; And come on, Cody could still breath... after Georgiy put him down
Only thing worse than beer could have been American beer! (no offense ^^;)
They have a HUD installed and there are tiny surveillance drones flying around giving him a picture of what is happening within a kilometer!

CODY'S NIGHTMARE: BEING HUGGED UNTIL HIS RIBS CRACK!! Interesting comments from Vlad regarding "decadence" and "capitalism". He made his own fortune in less than above-board ways. Plus, this is in the Two-Thousand Aughts (I think that's what you'd call the first decade of the 21st century), There is PLENTY of capitalism and decadence in modern day Russia, people making money hand over fist legally and illegally and conspicuously spending. Vlad is 53, so Karl is, what 40-45? That's assuming Karl and Martha married right after high school, around 50 if they got hitched right after college. Could Vlad and Karl be half-brothers? Cody's dad is completely Americanized, so if they did grow up together, it must've been when Karl was very young. Or their parents divorced at a very early age and Karl's a naturalized citizen. Sorry, it just doesn't seem to work for me. First cousins would make more sense, no? AND LIQUOR SHOULD NEVER BE WASTED LIKE THAT! EVEN IF IT IS "JUST" CHAMPAIGNE!! Phillistine.
At least he didn't get fluffed
I'm sure Vlad allows himself to be at least a little delusional now that his old job is obsolete
And yes, that's right for Karl's age (good lord, I'm going to be old enough to be Cody's father soon >.>), there is a significant age diff. And yes, Karl grew up here, but more about that later.
And foo! I don't drink, so I approve They're going to a bar anyway!

Aye, you got that right! And speaking of Doug... We get to SEE him again! YAY! Ehem.. just guessing.. since they ARE going to that Decadent American Bar... right? I am now imagining Doug's reaction to all them 4 big buff tiggies!!! WOOF! *grins widely and wags tail happily* Gotta have them all!
PS: Now you got me wondering what "Doug's style" is?!
Oh.. and I now live in TX.. I kinda miss CA.
another PS: I am gonna show you something.. where can I send it?

Vince? Oh, Viiiinnnce?
My nonexistent roommates thank you from the bottom of their hearts that they remain nonexistent roommates. Why? Because I've been cackling in a mildly unhinged fashion ever since Page 1 of this yarn. Granted, maniacal laughter isn't exactly unusual in my apartment, but this has been tickling my sense of humor delightfully. Must be all the extra fluff. Speaking of which, here's an alternate explanation for Georgiy's ability to glom on to his cousin: static cling!
I have to wonder...how will Cody's friends back at the bar react to his newly discovered relatives? And what happens when the Stoic Russian Agent becomes the Drunk Gay Tiger?
My mind is simply buzzing with possibilities, most of which bring a twinkle to my eye and a sadistic grin to my face. I don't know how far you and Dev plan to go with this delightful family reunion, but I'm on board for the duration!

This is pure comedy gold! Cody finding someone who is actually stronger than him, yet through his touchy-feeliness can make him fluff too...Vlad being offended by the champagne (of course he'd want vodka or something stronger) and seemingly searching for bugs or hidden cameras (I love that you didn't even think of that idea but it worked out so perfectly for what you drew)...the replacement for the cat yowl, how Vlad doesn't want to have the "uncomfortable emotional reunification" (and Exatron is right, not showing the actual embrace is perfect)...and the sheer range of possibilities in having Doug, Sam, Ty, and Becky reacting to Cody's relatives, let alone if any of Cody's friends are at the Hangout. And if Vlad gets drunk...
I am very curious indeed how it is Karl and Vlad grew up apart and Karl was so Americanized, and how and why he kept Vlad and Georgiy's existence a secret from Cody. I am going to throw my support in for the idea that Vlad, being a secret agent, could not stay in touch with his family, and thus he only recently got in contact with Karl after the Soviet Union fell (and old habits died). I'd say that Karl was deliberately relocated to keep "the enemy" from getting at Vlad through his family, except the USSR would never have sent Karl to the States.Hmmm...
Well anyway in the meantime, I sincerely hope that after Karl worked out and meeting Vlad and Georgiy, Cody will work harder than ever to catch up with them (and not seem "decadent and lazy")--the last thing he needs is to be made fun of for not living up to the family genes--if not by Todd or his friends than by Vlad himself.
Also: *snuggles Georgiy TIGHTLY* :D
