*stabs self repeatedly in face with pencil*
Word of advice for anyone doing comics with modern settings! Do NOT bother free-handing all of your buildings first, even if you use a ruler. It is INFINITELY easier to do ALL of that digitally with a line tool. . . which is what you're going to end up doing, anyway.
Used a lot of refs for this f*cking page. The car interior, all the little tiny cars and the warehouse externals. I think it bears saying, though, that this was all drawn by hand, first. . . then scanned, and colored by hand. It might have been a stupid, ridiculously time-consuming way to do it, but I did it, and I'm at least gonna say it and be proud of it.
Lou has been getting quoted around my house a LOT over the last two days. Over the next page, you guys'll get to know him a bit better, and we'll see if he's as popular here as he is with my mates.
Also, is it just me, or is there something really sexy about Reis. . . driving? Maybe it's just me. . . .
This comic is a sequel! The first comic, 'Cruelty', can be read here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3704554/
Posting this disclaimer on every page, so no one can say they didn't see it. No need to read it if you already have, it's just for newcomers:
- This comic will contain adult content, swearing, violence, death, and some very difficult political and social subject matter. If you're the sort of sensitive person who can't handle that, this comic is not for you.
- Not ALL of the content in this comic will be posted online. I'll be withholding one of the adult scenes from the online release, reserved for the eventual print release. HOWEVER. Just like 'Cruelty', this comic WILL have one full adult scene posted online. Any complaints about the withheld content will be ignored, and likely scorned by the folks who DO enjoy what's posted online. So don't be an ass.
- This comic is GAY. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY! I cannot express this ENOUGH, seeing as there was some confusion with 'Cruelty'. This comic follows the storyline of 'Cruelty' regardless of which 'path' you took, but it is assumed the characters eventually began a relationship. The comic deals with gay issues, as well as a gay relationship. Deal with it, or GTFO.

Rukis..I know you're kicking yourself, but I really have to thank you. I think your art is so amazing, but it can be a little disheartening when I compare it to my own. Sometimes I forget that even really great artists struggle. It's great seeing the little flaws, not because I want you to fail but because it reminds me that you're always doing your best to push yourself and improve, too. Youre not afraid to admit it, you take ownership of it...and that's inspiring to me, because it makes me feel a little less like 'crappy artist watching incredible artist' and a little more like 'struggling beginner artist traveling the same path, only in a different place" so thank you..I wish you well as you travel down the path, Rukis, and thank you so much for the inspiration.
I know this scenario all too well. Realistically, these two would never have lasted together after highschool. They come from very different backgrounds, and can barely relate to each other.
The real issue here though isn't money. It's whose in control. Reis works because it's the ONLY way he has any control in the relationship. Marcus, being in college, president of his group, and living off of a trust fund and awesome grades, sort of has prioritized himself. It would be like being married to a company owner. If you don't work, everything you own belongs to him, and you had better keep in line.
...however, I can think of much worse people to be owned by than Marcus. And that's Reis's issue. Marcus IS doing good things for him, and doesn't expect much in return other than not breaking the law, sexy-time, and going to a few events that are important to him. Marcus does tend to be condescending towards Reis... which also causes problems. Reis doesn't want to feel useless.

If it makes you feel any better, you did a great job on the exterior of the building with the docks! Being a truck driver, I see 'em first-paw every day! The way that you placed a car parking area in front of the docks (which makes it even more difficult for trucks to maneuver) is especially realistic! ^^
And yes. Reis driving is unusually sexy...which isn't to say he isn't unusually sexy ALL the time. But maybe that's my canine bias talking... =P
Oh...one last thing. Going to go out on a limb here and test myself! I find it somehow fitting that Reis drives a pickup! And judging by the shape of the seat, door panel and steering wheel...I'm going to say that you reffed a late 90's/early 2000's Ford F-150 for the interior... *crosses fingers* How'd I do? ^^

I'm sorry, but I can't help but think...
Isn't Reis just a wee bit too large to have to raise his arm that far to reach the top of the wheel? ... and have that much headroom?
Maybe I've got the wrong impression. Maybe Marcus just happens to be smaller than I thought... like... briefcase-sized or something. >_>
