Yeah, I had a call similar to that on my cell phone when I was on the road on month. A month later I get back for my operation and found out Universal Studios and two other companies took out a total of 400 bucks out of my savings.....lovely...needed that for my bills that month while I was off for recovery. :-/
End of the story, I was taken off of their....uh..list. And I was given backt 50 bucks.......out of 400. What a rip off. Oh well, those three where in Florida..........

I have a machine that takes care of the automated ones but I love getting to talk to the live telemarketers. I tell them things they don't want to know. Like, "Well I would be interested in window, except I have to move soon, you see I've run out of places to burry the bodies in the crawl space. I started stacking them 3 deep but they were taking up too much room so I started burrying vertically which is more work but takes up less space. . ." They normally hang up before I reach that point.

"How dare you!"
'What? we just want to find out if you are intrested in...'
"We just had our outer walls re-posest! And here you are, trying to sell us Aluminum siding! How dare you!(Click)"

...I meant that telemarketing thing. You can't take just answering the phone as a sign someone accepts to buy some crappy magazines.
That telemarketing service is essentially shoving crap down people's throats without their consent. And if that's not illegal, there's definetly something wrong here...

It's a cartoon. In cartoon universes the impossible (or highly improbable) is common place.
Yes, telemarketers cannot force you to buy things and it would be illegal for them to do so. If, however, they could pull a fast one like this and get away with it, they would.
