Inkwash Samples
These are five ink washes from my book, I made the book and the paper last semester during the workshop and have been filling it up with inkwashes since the beginning of march, I try to do a few every night, but usually school work takes up the rest. I’m half way through the book now, and my goal is to finish it by Easter. They’re all from last month, and originally from my tumblr: http://acrosstheseas.tumblr.com
Right now it’s primarily imaginary buildings, inspired by Gothic and Byzantine buildings. I’ve referenced a few actual structures, but the difference is these are all places I’ve never been, where as my painted/printed stuff are all actual places. I’ve also been reading Dracula so there’s a little of that in there too. Another source has been music, Draconian, Kamelot and Therion are something of a soundtrack to these.
Left to right:
1: Castle – First one in the series
2: Spires- imagining gothic architecture
3: Ebon Skies- from the Song Elysian Night by Draconian
4: Three Guards – after the met trip, looked at a little bit of Asian painting
5: Beyond- Gargoyles and gothic architecture.
Media: India Ink, Suomi Ink, White Ink and Walnut Oil on handmade paper.
They’re all 5 x 8 inches, and bound together.
Images are all © to me.
