The main cast from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as the album cover for Abbey Road. With only four slots for crossing the street, I had to make some choices about who went where. If you are familiar with the Paul is dead urban legend, then you know that the four allegedly represent four people on their way to a funeral.
Applejack is George, the gravedigger.
Twilight Sparkle is Paul, the corpse (allegedly, some corpses in Britain are buried with bare feet, which Paul has in the original photo).
Rainbow Dash is Ringo, the undertaker.
Rarity is John, the preacher.
Pinkie Pie is the "28-IF" Volkswagen, the age Paul supposedly was when he was killed in the car crash.
Fluttershy is some guy on the street in the background (she's shy).
I know that Lauren Faust has decried the positioning of ponies in human poses, specifically in the "Bridlemaids" billboard, but once this idea got me, it wouldn't let go until I got it out. Sorry about that, Lauren!
This is, by far, the most involved picture I've ever completed. I scanned it on October 29, so it took me nearly a month to do. Although it was originally drawn and inked on paper, the final version was done completely with the Pen tool in Photoshop 6. That took a long time, but got me much smoother curves and consistent linework than anything I can do by hand. There are a bajillion layers in the picture, too. I still feel I screwed up the backgrounds, especially the far-distant perspective, but I guess it turned out all right overall.

The reason that all the other Mane 6 ponies have to write letters this season is because the replacement Twilight Sparkle is right-hoofed instead of left-hoofed, like the original, and she's just not as good at writing them as the original. The less time they show the replacement writing letters, the longer it will take viewers to catch on to the deception.
I was making a joking reference to the urban legend/conspiracy that Paul McCartney died in a car crash in 1966 and was secretly replaced by a look-alike. Supposedly there are "clues" hidden in many of the Beatles album covers and songs, uncluding the Abbey Road cover. Twilight is the one standing in McCartney's place in this version.
Actually, Lauren Faust isn't associated with the production of the show any more, and hasn't been since the end of the first season. She had nothing to do with the naming, or of any edits to that episode. In any event, don't ever forget that the show is -- at it's core -- designed to sell toys. It's owned by Hasbro, after all. It's designed to make money, and no corporation will tolerate anything that might damage its ability to make as much money as possible. For what it's worth, I thought calling her out as Derpy was a bad move, because I knew it would generate the controversy that it did.
Thanks! As for selling prints.... I'm already violating a number of copyrights in the first place, making money off of it might be crossing too many lines.
