Phase one of the paper doll project is done!
This is the prototype for the paper cutting paper dolls I hope to offer later! She's double sided, and as I did not alter the scan (accept to clean up the colour and blend the two scans together in the middle), so that you can see that they are indeed very well matched. I'm very happy with how this turned out, and I'm really looking forward to the clothing, and what sort of amazing things I can make later once I get a few commissions!
All of Kitten is cut by hand, by me using a variety of tools, most of them being varieties of exacto knife blades (oh fiskars how I love you). I have cut and layered back to back and back to front the paper and inlayed certain features such as her eyes and inner ears. She is 5 pieces of paper thick, and if anyone's interested I can show you 3 dimensional photos to show you how thick she is.
Really I can say she's just thick enough to feel sturdy, and thin enough to not feel clunky in any way.
<3 <3 I'm in love with it, and I'm happy I used my own character so I can keep her!
Thank you for coming all this way to check her out- all feedback is always appreciated! <3

Final pricing thoughts for later? Probably more near $60 for a base, with an additional $5 per side for more detailed markings.
I'm still offering the one slot "guinea pig commission" at $25, if you're interested note me, comment or email me at sanuramosi[at]hotmail.com and we can have a chat over what the cost might be for your character (if you have complicated markings like Kitten's here, I may have to charge a few dollars extra, they're a lot of work!)

OMG, she's gorgeous! I just want to hold her and scritch her ears! Her eyes are hypnotic. Very good job, Sanura!
...just one little thing; she has hair growing from her ears. I know it's a bit late, but maybe if there was a dark, french-curved area on the inside of her ears where her scalp hair doesn't reach to show that there are ear canals... I'm not an artist myself, I don't know how to express this. Anyway, it's just one teeny, little thing, over-all you did a great job! I wish I could afford to commission one of these.

Thank you! <3 I'm happy to hear you guys like her eyes, I went through 3 pairs to get one I liked enough to go with. It was REALLY hard doing an inlay with paper for those (the eye lines, pupil, and iris are all seperate pieces, but on one level like the inlay in a wood table. I have even more admiration for woodworkers who do inlays now!).
>^.^< I'm thinking a simple dress to start out, then a few other pieces.
But first, my single commission left over from the con! Don't want this to take forever like the ones last year did! Now that I finished Kitten, I can better concentrate to finish the commision. I got some good sketches done for their faces/expression that's I'm happy with so far, I might refine them, then work on the overall poses. Finally found some individual picture I can use to reference the pose for the two in the picture.
Sorry If that's TMI, feeling chatty *giggles*
