For National Train day I've chosen to show a small bit of history . . . which was destroyed.
Aftermath: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7972324/
This Milwaukee Road 'Instruction Car X-5002' was destroyed by fire while parked outside at the Shoreham Shops complex a few years after this photo was taken.
(Ex-MILW #651 (1971) 40-seat coach, exx-#554 (1956) 52-seat coach, exxx-#5775 "Cannon Falls" (1952) 14 Sect. sleeper.)
It remains debatable as to whether this really was destroyed by a careless worker with a torch or by plan.
It's carcass traveled around the Twin Cites for several years afterwards.
I last saw it was in South St. Paul (way south of Pigseye Yard) around 1995 or so, looking like the end was near, i.e scrapping.
