This is a very poor scan of the aftermath of the fire that spelled the end for this car.

My photo, I was actually chased off by railroad special agents about 10 minutes after I shot this.

Well, they can use the steel again. This was sometime in the early 1990's, its long gone.

Im not surprised you were chased off. That is something the railroads do not like people doing.

Yah, I usually tried my best to take shots from safe areas (I especially do so today!).

I'm glad I braved that day taking photos though, I caught Shoreham in its last years, the barely standing roundhouse is all that remans today.

something similar happened to one of the sky lounge observation cars back in the early 70's at the MILW shops

Exactly, (And that was photographed as it burned!) which is why many CMStP&P fans wonder if this 'torch incident' wasn't more deliberate.

Probably was. MILW seem to get the short end of the coupler these days. Hell a Super Dome got cut up last year sadly

Yah I know, more than one cut up in Gary, IN.

The sill on up was saved, but still I could hardly fathom it being cut up.
