Officer Liam Richards has become my new favorite character to draw in this comic :)
This comic is a sequel! The first comic, 'Cruelty', can be read here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3704554/
Posting this disclaimer on every page, so no one can say they didn't see it. No need to read it if you already have, it's just for newcomers:
- This comic will contain adult content, swearing, violence, death, and some very difficult political and social subject matter. If you're the sort of sensitive person who can't handle that, this comic is not for you.
- Not ALL of the content in this comic will be posted online. I'll be withholding one of the adult scenes from the online release, reserved for the eventual print release. HOWEVER. Just like 'Cruelty', this comic WILL have one full adult scene posted online. Any complaints about the withheld content will be ignored, and likely scorned by the folks who DO enjoy what's posted online. So don't be an ass.
- This comic is GAY. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY! I cannot express this ENOUGH, seeing as there was some confusion with 'Cruelty'. This comic follows the storyline of 'Cruelty' regardless of which 'path' you took, but it is assumed the characters eventually began a relationship. The comic deals with gay issues, as well as a gay relationship. Deal with it, or GTFO.

Upon closer inspection, I looks like the Kieth here was born in 1930. Even if that's not the case, who is to say Reis is the reason he died? He was an ass hole and I'm sure there were plenty of people willing to do bad things to him. Besides, Reis was on probation for abusing minors but the main reason was the drugs.
T'was my late grandfather and my suggestion in the stream. It is a coincidence it is also the same name as the character in 'cruelty'. My grandfather's name was the first thing that popped into my head when 'gravestone name's' came up. I just thought it would a cool r.i.p secret to have it in there n.n
Here in the UK cemetaries tend to look somewhat artificial. I mean that by the way people put lots of trinkets/gifts & various bits of plastic crap on the graves/tombstones. I know its their relatives and they're allowed to do as they want, but i just think it looks horrible, messy and really tacky and shouldn't be allowed tbh.
IMO a cemetary should be a simple, serene place, free from clutter & junk.

It's not like the dead care. I don't see why leaving stuff around a graveyard should be considered tacky. If it helps the living cope, so be it. Graveyards should be places where you can pay your respects. If you want to keep your loved ones grave clutter free, awesome if you want to leave tacky MLP dolls on it, go for it...the dead dont care, and I dont get why were so stuck on showing so much respect for the dead that people care what someone elses families grave looks like. it's just stone and dirt.
I did live in Platsburg NY for 8 years and the only cemeteries I saw were not looking like that. There were a mix of tombstone that were like the above and regular ones, but the one I saw were in the middle of the city. Granted, I did not go to the country side looking for cemeteries so I cannot say for sure, but the one I saw were more conventional.
At least in a few I've been in. Depending on the cemetery. Some are 'perpetual care' which has a ground-flush stone, so people can drive mowers over them. Some have the stand-up ones like here. Depending too on the age, but most I see have few trees. Some of the exceptionally old ones are basically in forests now. Talking around 100 - 200 years. Depending too, if they're in cities,or rural areas.
One cemetery with some of my people in it, is 150+ years old, and a forest has grown up around it. Even the stones - nearly 91cm tall, can get lost in the forest.
There is also types that have mausoleums, and vaults. Cemetery lore is actually a fascinating thing. I researched stones when I was working on a story, and a lot of symbols you might see on the old stones, has meaning. 2 thistle plants means that the person buried is Scottish. A butterfly, means a life was taken far too quickly (usually a child), and so on.

This is a real turning point in Reis' life. I know if I was him, I would want closure as well. When my grandfather passed in 1999, I never knew he was a Captain in the Korean War in 1953. In fact, he never spoke of it. It left a lot questions unanswered, but at least he got a proper veteran's burial in Memphis.
Wow this story is depressing! But I enjoy drama and both sad and touching moments. Still, I really hope things turn for everyone before this ends. I can't help but have feelings for Marcus, Reis, Jacob, and others. The way you've made their lives so vivid it's hard not to hope good things for them.
Wow, this page is a bucket full of sad indeed.
First off, only Reis came to her funeral. While it is sad for Gloria, it is as sad for Reis to see that his mother and he himself were both ignored and not even noticed. Marcus and his parole officer were really the only people he had.
Second, I think Gloria killed herself out of spite to Reis. From what Reis says, his mother was the one who kept the drugs coming in and it's possible she got her husband hooked as well. And from Priorities, it might have also been fear of losing Reis and then truly losing him that finally made her do it.
It's really sad in any case, but maybe for the best for Reis, now he can truly put his past behind him.

My only criticism on this one is with Liam telling Reis they're on a first-name basis, but then in the last panel addressing Reis by his last name. Seems inconsistent, though I can see how you would want a character to actually say Reis's last name simply to cement that into the audience's minds.
Well considering sabertooths were apex predators back in their day I'd say that they don't pose much of a problem.
Fun fact: apparently sabertooths were specialized predators, they could hunt most anything but were particularly adept at hunting a certain bipedal monkey...O.0;

1970 - my year of birth.
I managed thru it, but wow. In a weird sense I wonder how my peers I knew then are managing. My best friend the same age across the street, and another from down the block... i can hang, but closure sometimes takes a mind of its own. I wonder what it will mean to them.
Life has one constant - things change.

I know I rarely leave comments, but I've been following your work over a decade now and every few years I circle back and re-read some of your comics or a few of the physical copies I've bought (haven't bought these yet but I need to). Anyways- this page is really powerful and wanted to say the emotion you convey through your characters and all the lovely designs (ADORING the Smilodon police officer and how original your designs are for both main cast and background characters) makes me always appreciate all the details you put into your work. Your stories are so captivating and again I know I've rarely commented your work, but I did want to circle back and say how strong your stories are and how I admire how your work is so impactful it always sticks with you. Like even the times I forget some areas of a storyline, there's always scenes that remain super vivid in memory, or they absolutely gut-punch me the moment I remember them.
It's been nice taking the time to revisit this comic. Wanted to finally start giving feedback instead of only being a lurker, even if it's literally over a decade late.
