yeah our 1room we had for about a year wasn't SO bad, comparatively. but it was in an awful area (we were always calling the cops, had our mail stolen, etc.) and the landlord never fixed anything. our shower leaked and caused a hole to form in our downstairs neighbor's ceiling, for example. and there was zero insulation in the building so as soon as the temp climbed above 60 our apartment became an oven. we could barely keep it at 80 with an AC going full blast all the time...most of the time the needle on the thermostat just hit the top end and couldn't go any farther so we had no real idea of how hot it was in there.
the electric was obscenely expensive for some reason and the drain pipe for a washer in the bathroom CONSTANTLY smelled of sewage... not to mention people stealing our parking spot etc etc. when we sat down and crunched the numbers and realized it'd cost us the same to own a house, it was kind of a no brainer. course, now i live in terror of LOSING it...

wooooo
yeah that town was hella crumby. for further proof see also that the people who moved into our apartment after we moved out smoke crack. our downstairs neighbors texted us FRANTICLY one day because they could smell crack fumes through the shared vents. and they can't call the cops, cause the people upstairs have a police scanner...it'd be gone by the time the cops got there etc

oh yeah, it's like a world of difference. replace the gunshots with neighborhood kids squealing in delight at thunder. replace crackheads stealing my mail with elderly neighbors coming to introduce themselves when they see us out working on the garden/yard...you can see why i desperately want to keep this situation ahahaa
it's okay dude, I KNOW DAT FEEL.
we actually wound up getting one of the human-powered old style lawnmowers because it was the cheapest. the spouse hates it, but i love the thing. something about watching the blades go around in a cylinder is just really fun. even if it can't cut any of the taller grass.

Yup, the rig I made is only about a year old, but those two parts are sitting at around 3 years, so time to pull them and get something better.
Only way to get a computer is to build it yourself. They make most of the parts almost idiot-proof if you don't force them, and you can know exactly what it can and can not do.

i agree wholeheartedly. but due to the nature of my moving around for the past like ten years of my life, i've moved over to the dark side of laptops.
they're not TOO bad, really. the video cards naturally get outdated fairly fast, but at least a good chunk of other bits can be replaced.

also someone (before the drive went up) sent me 10$ out of the blue. it didn't look like your name, but was it you for the t-shirt? i just wanted to be sure. mysterious strangers giving me tenbux out of nowhere is appreciated but i always worry it means i owe them art or swag or somethin

Aww. Even I want to throw money at the cute Ruri.
I hope you get it! Smash through those student loans. Even though we got enough for a down payment on a house now, we're probably going to just put most of it down on student loans so that we can save more faster. *shakes fist*

i really
really hope the student loan forgiveness act passes. i don't see why this runaway student debt situation should be allowed to continue when it's proven that at this point it's EXTREMELY rare that the students are able to pay it off with the minimum wage jobs undergraduate studies afford them...

teaparties! she opens slots for them in her journal sometimes, so you gotta watch her.

Well....in Koji's case, there are several adorable squee-inducing pics in his character gallery. Dear god, his chibi pics are absolute heart-melters. And his non-chibi pics are almost as cute. He's big, fluffy, cheerful, cuddly, funny. He's probably a big hit with the furry fans and most female fans of the comic who are into "kawaii" things.
Ruri has a very neat character design. The blue mohawk, the purple fur, the vest, those soft blue puppydog eyes. When Grey confronted her, she looked like a guilty kicked puppy. That probably made some fans sympathize with her.
That's why I think they are popular.
