A lot of people seem confused by this, so, defintion:
Bo = Boyfriend
I don't know if it's just a new york thing, but. . . I'm confused by the. . . confusion :P
I got a lot of 'why don't we see the conversation between Marcus and Jacob' comments on my stream, so I'm gonna answer it here.
The reason is, Jacob is getting his OWN COMIC, done by the lovely
Sidian, and his conversation with Marcus would be an enormous spoiler :P So if you want to know any more about Jacob, go watch Sidian!
'Unconditional' is now available for pre-order, right here: http://furplanet.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=594
Now mind you, none of these orders will be shipping until the end of June. But if you put in your order now, you're guaranteed a copy :)
The printed version of Unconditional includes the entire story, in color, as well as five pages that will not be posted online. These pages include a few adult scenes, but mostly, they are an epilogue to Marcus and Reis's story.
Note: If you order one of these books online, you will NOT be able to pick up your copy at Anthrocon, unless you're purchasing a separate copy. Just wanna make that clear. This is NOT a pre-order for Anthrocon pickup!
It's also worth mentioning, we will likely not have many copies at AC this year, due to the amount of time it takes to print. I'm sure Furplanet will bring as many as they can, but if you ABSOLUTELY want to nab a copy at AC, be prepared to be in the Dealer's Den Friday morning, first thing, or you may miss out.
This comic is a sequel! The first comic, 'Cruelty', can be read here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3704554/
Posting this disclaimer on every page, so no one can say they didn't see it. No need to read it if you already have, it's just for newcomers:
- This comic will contain adult content, swearing, violence, death, and some very difficult political and social subject matter. If you're the sort of sensitive person who can't handle that, this comic is not for you.
- Not ALL of the content in this comic will be posted online. I'll be withholding one of the adult scenes from the online release, reserved for the eventual print release. HOWEVER. Just like 'Cruelty', this comic WILL have one full adult scene posted online. Any complaints about the withheld content will be ignored, and likely scorned by the folks who DO enjoy what's posted online. So don't be an ass.
- This comic is GAY. GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY! I cannot express this ENOUGH, seeing as there was some confusion with 'Cruelty'. This comic follows the storyline of 'Cruelty' regardless of which 'path' you took, but it is assumed the characters eventually began a relationship. The comic deals with gay issues, as well as a gay relationship. Deal with it, or GTFO.

Looks like the detoxing (from Reis) isn’t going so well for poor Marcus.
He probably listen to Jeff Buckley’s Hallelujah all the time with a bottle 21 years old scottish single malt whisky, which taste only good if your are really depressed.

I think you're missing an "i" in "bo"--you know, for boi-- I'm pretty sure you don't mean Bo. Anyway, I guess Lou wants to apologize for messing up so bad. I wonder what Marcus will do. And having to wait for that convo is gonna drive a lot of us crazy XD I'll probably forget about it later! Hoping we don't have to wait too long to read that comic. It's gonna be good!
No, there really are two different meanings... From what I've known all my life.
beau means boyfriend
bo means friend, buddy or dude
beau is something a female would usually say, as for the bo slang, around here it is referring to a friend, which usually a male says but both genders say it.

ah. never heard 'bo' used that way before. am literally only used to 'bo' referring to weaponry in martial arts ^^"
my apologies for not knowing that. :) though, honestly, being part Cajun, if i hear 'bo/beau' i always hear it as 'boyfriend/love interest' kinda meaning XD hence my 'stubborn' look on it. :)

The Cajuns use Beau all the time. :p
Can't be that fancy a word. ^.^
And yes I'm related to Cajuns (My Family history is Wiiiiiierd. O_O) ...Anyway nice folks but they talk funny. ^.^
Like they use words like 'Catlick' when talking about the Catholic church or Po'boy for sandwich. :D

The best way to do it is usually to depict something that very obviously is from the future, and therefore its mere presence is as much of a giveaway that time has skipped as the dreaded "two months later..." bubble, only without the latter's cheesiness. For example, if you have one scene in an outdoor scene in autumn (fallen red/orange leaves everywhere) and then the next in a snowstorm, most people get "oh, it's winter, so I guess a couple months passed." If your scene is stuck indoors, you can have someone look at a clock, or a calendar, or something. In this case, if you wanted to flash forward a couple months, a shot of some part of his apartment in decay (a mountain of neglected dishes, a disastrously messy room, etc.) would imply that and get some character development in with a quick "wow, Marcus is devastated enough that he's just totally letting himself go" establishment; a two-fer.
Of course, A) that might not be how you actually want Marcus to be taking this, and B) more importantly, obviously Reis has been gone for less than 24 hours, since he ran into Jacob on his way out, and Marcus probably wouldn't have noted the oddness of the possible repeat visit and said "that can't be Jacob again" unless the second visitor showed up the same day.
Anyway, I got a little sidetracked there, sorry. My point was actually supposed to be that there are better ways of skipping time than the "Meanwhile, in THE FUTURE" copout, but even that is at least something. If you're going to excise what was probably a very important scene (since it's important enough to be getting its own comic instead,) there should at least be some sort of assistance in re-establishing where exactly we are right now, so it's not just an abrupt and confusing cut to whenever.

I'm kinda confused as to the geography of where this story takes place. In places in "Cruelty" and "Priorities" Marcus' college is said to be on the west coast so how is Reis going "back out west"? This is a small issue but it's still kinda nagging at me. Also I mentioned "Priorities," which I just found and read yesterday, and was wondering if you have considered going back and doing some illustrations for those? I know you said "Unconditional" is supposed to wrap up the story but I also recall you saying something along the lines of fleshing out more of the story universe, would that include more artwork for those stories? I hope you do cause those short pieces were awesome.
You're right "Cruelty" say east coast but "Priorities" part 1 says west coast. Here's the link: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4553115/

Well like they say practice makes perfect, just keep it up and you'll get there. Also simply reading stuff like that will help give you pointers and ideas. I don't do much creative writing myself but the last few times I have, mind you this was for school, they turned out real well, although I'd say the last one I wrote was really, really depressing. It's just something you gotta work at, and instead of telling yourself you're not that good, say to yourself "I wanna be that good," that way you don't get down on your own stuff and now you have a goal to work towards. If you go back and read some of the stuff Rukis has said over the years she's gone through this process herself with her drawing and look at the results.
I've been reading my entire life. :p
But yeah I understand that. I guess it sorta helps when your basing it off visual media and already have a very strong story in place.
Hmmm....Could you look at the stuff I have and see what you think? It's not alot. :o
I'm actually just sorta try and get back into the swing of things.

I'd be glad to look at your stuff and provide some critique. Feel free however to take my critiques with a grain or several of salt though. I'm no literary expert, I'm a microbiology senior in college so most the literature classes I've taken have been lower level, however, I have taken a lot of history courses and am quite confident in my own writing abilities even as it relates to fiction. Also any responses may take several days because I'm doing a lot of doctor shadowing and school related stuff this summer.
If you would like to see some of my writing, fiction or not. I can try to upload some. That might give you a better idea of where I'm at.

Oh sure. :D
I love reading and would happy to read your work.
Today I'm actually working on finishing another part of my Elements story. :3
So that will make Chapter 3 on the up and up which is nice.
And yeah I'm a history major at college. :p
Good writing is a must in my case. :3
And no worries take your time.

I'm probably going to wind up majoring in European History.
I'm also thinking of Minoring in a practical and also trying Dual Major.
Job Markets crap and even though I really dislike my parents (Really, really, really, really dislike.) they've been helping pay for my education. So I might as well take the opportunity and bulk up on it and broaden my base in case something doesn't work out for when I finally get out of college and into the job market.
If you wanna talk more I have a skype and AIM account.
Hell even Steam if you got it.
I can note you that stuff so we can talk. :3

I've got a steam and skype account. I don't mind giving out my steam one but I only give out my skype info to close friends and family. That's nothing against you but one of my friends had the unpleasant experiences of acquiring an internet stalker one time which has made me very cautious about giving any kind of personal info online. If you want to exchange Steam info, using notes definitely sounds like a good idea.
Knew it was Lou right off the bat as soon as I saw that Hawaiian flowery shirt. :p
Only someone like Lou would wear something like that. ^.^
But damn. :(
Marcus looks really sad and upset....And I don't know if it's just because Reis is leaving or if it also plays into Jacob's troubles. (I'd find it hard for anyone to listen to shit like that and NOT get upset by it.)

Huh....I just had a thought....Well first we had Jacob...A guy Reis never really met in person who and who mostly knew and talked to Marcus stop and give Reis some REALLY good advice about their relationship and about Marcus in particular before he left....
Now we have Lou, a guy Marcus never really knew but who hung out and talked a lot with Reis stop by....And something tells me Lou is going to give Marcus some really good advice. O_O
Or Maybe Marcus justs bursts into tears and comforts a crying Foxie before giving him advice....Because seriously Marcus looks like he's only just hanging together. Meeting the guy who inadvertently led to their separation might lead to Marcus getting REALLY upset.

I'm just hoping that somewhere down the line either Marcus or Reis explains to Lou that Reis snapped like that mostly because of the bad news he got, not solely because of what Lou said. Not sure if that would ease his guilt (at not being the sole cause) or increase it (for saying something stupid when Reis just found out his mom died), but it would help him to better understand what happened.
Damn, and I was all set up to dismiss Lou as an idiot. And here he comes, a day late (literally), and he's owning up..... Welp, I guess he's really an okay guy after all. Pain in the ass or no.
*Sits and waits to read the explanation of all this craziness.*

The bums were playing terribly, they're wicked good ball players anyways. So I just reached for the clicker to find something better. While eating my supper of a grinder with chips and soda. A mostly eaten fluff-a-nutter on the same TV tray.
I love regional slang. For me Bo is part of Bo Sox (bums if they're losing), though I figured in the context it meant boyfriend: was just an odd way of saying it.

Sorry Rukis, but I always thought that "Bo" was actually "Beau" which is a French word. I think it's akin to "honey" and means something like "beautiful" (but I don't know French lol). Anyway, that's how they spell it in the cheesy celebrity magazines (like US! and People magazines for instance). That may be the cause of all the confusion. Hopefully you still see this comment beneath the mass amount of other comments though.
BO is spelled "Beau". It's French. It means "male suitor." It was used in the south a lot, because French was popular in Louisiana, due France owning it until around the time of the Louisiana purchase.
But it's pronounced "BO," as you have spelled it here. Sadly, thanks to Missy Elliot singing, "Even when I'm with my BOO, all I think about is YOU," that everyone suddenly says, "BOO," now. Even black dudes, to other dudes, because they have no idea it means "boyfriend." lol.
And that... is your cultural knowledge for the year! :D
