Gah I always wanted to do a meme like this and now I FINALLY did it! Hurray! This was so much fun to do!

1) By far the easiest to do, ofcourse! Unlike the others where I have to think about every line, drawing in my own style still requires some effort but goes much easier, ofcourse! Over the years it grows into some handwriting, especially the way I ink.
2) This actually looks pretty darn authentic exept that I didn't start drawing Kiki until I was 13, I mostly drew a bunch of dinosaur characters back then. Don't know exactly when I started drawing eyes like that (I kept doing that until I was 15 or so, drawing lemurs was actually one of the reasons I stopped because having black circles around your eyes just doesn't work when you have one giant eye), but Hupie the red panda was definitely an influence.
I used my actual box of markers I got when I was 8. I'm amazed they didn't dry out!
3) I have so many styles I love and can't pick a favorite, but I will never stop drooling over Franquin's style from the 50s-60s. Eeeeee! (Kiki somehow came out looking like a mix between Spirou, Marsupilami and Spip)
4) Of all the things I hate (a lot of things), I pick something that takes an hour to draw, ofcourse. (this)
5) 'Dutch' Disney comics I grew up with (Mau Heymans, Daan Jippes, Ulrich Schröder, Freddy Milton, etc) which are in their turn all based on Barks. (Here are some failed attempts at sketching Kiki in Barks style) This one's hard to do. There are so many different styles but the differences are pretty subtle, and mostly regocnisable because they all draw the same Duck characters. I can sketch some Barsky ducks but drawing Kiki that way is hard... the inking is almost impossible since he has this really typical way of inking with a crowned pen, and I ink with a brush. Even when people trace a picture, you can still tell who drew it by the inks.

Oh god, Franquin! Also, I like those Barks style sketches, he sure went through different stylistic transitions though. Oh man, I grew up and got familiar with all those Disney artists, too. Haven't really kept track with Disney comics in the recent years, sadly (I'd say one of my favourite Barks based artists would be the late Daniel Branca! I adore his style.)
You're amazingly versatile.
You're amazingly versatile.
Aaah, panel two, I too used to draw four fingers and a thumb on my characters, I don't why, but it just never looks good on a cartoon character, too cluttered XD
In panel 3 I can see she has the bell hop's hair face, Marsupilami's body and tail, even the background reminds me of Spirou ;)
I think it's because of you I found Franquin and he's very quickly becomming a big inspiration for my own art <3
I love number 4 for it's sheer creepiness, you captured what I hate most about that movie, you should definitely try digital painting more though as you're really good at it!
Number 5 I already knew you'd draw in that style for that one the moment you tweeted you were doing this meme XD I think anyone who's met you for atleast a minute will know how much you love these artists and their comics. The style really comes through and I can see a lot of elements in the drawing that I have seen in comics that you showed me at your house that one time x)
And number 6...god dammit, you've only just seen that style on the front page and emulate it so well XD
I really want to do this meme again, and this take it a bit (a lot) more seriously!

Haha that wasn't even intented, but yes. Should be like this Kiki http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7845922/
Yep, it is! The colors are digital but you can see the original inks here (bw scan): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8174327/
Thanks!
Thanks!
All of these panels are so perfect. That they look as if they were drawn by the original artist. I'm trying to fill out this meme, and I can't think of a good example for panel four, your example was so great, I feel like I would look lame if I tried to think of anything besides that. XD
Keep it up, and now that im thinking about it, the barnyard style really resemble what I saw from my worst nightmares and fears. I hate it too.
