Just a late-night doodle... Of quite possibly my favorite of my created species. The drazi. This is a typical pose for my drazi... They're long, lythe, wickedly agile, and have an average ground speed of a comet... For an animal, anyway. Slightly smaller than a wild fokkle, which has allowed for a symbiotic relationship with the drazi, their long legs and flexible spines allow for incredible strides that would shame any of today's greatest feral runners... Drazi spend more time in the air at a full run than they do touching the ground.
But hey, I won't go about putting out a bio for these beauties yet... Still not done with the fokkles and the things that terrorize them, if you still remember that hinted-at detail. I can go on and on and on with the drazi... So I'll save it for when it's their turn.

I was in a horrible mood and wanted some dark, cool colours for comfort... The drazi always seem to come around and dance for me when I get upset. I started feeling better halfway through the shading and decided to throw a bit of warmth in there for gratitude to the creature for springing through my mind.
You might hate me when I point this out. The Drazi's mane looks like Sonic the Hedgehog's hair.

FUCK, no, SEGA has enough of my ideas already... There's a silent war going on between me and them that I take personally for stealing six years of my hard work.
But about the mane, it's actually very stiff hair separated by segmented metal plating... Those things pretty much grow out of their spinal column. The mane is typically white or light-coloured, but the chitinous metal shielding can be all sorts of metallic colours. Perhaps when I submit a coloured reference of the species, it'll be easier to see... Instead of seeing a spikey mane and assuming it's hedgehog-related...

More of a boycot on my part... Dates back to my high school years. Spent six years building the first draft of Ghost Makers and SEGA ended up stealing it pretty much ver batem two years after I had submitted it to DeviantArt. To add insult to injury, they not only stole one of my character designs with nearly-noticeable tweaks, they also made him the most annoying creature in SEGA's long encyclopeadia of characters...

Aaaaaahahahahahaaa... I hope they never live down how bad they've become... I used to wake up early as fuck every single morning to watch the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog... You know, before all the neon animu cliches hopped in... So now I just sit back and grin as their constant character-pumping continues to slime them season after season.
Well, I certainly can't wait to read more about these fellows. :d I like how your creature designs aren't overdone (some people really stress themselves trying to be original) and stand out because of the details in their story (which most seem to ignore, lol). At first I saw them moving in a snake-like manner due to their long, slim body, which I realized is kind of pointless. xD
Anyway, shades of blue and purple are pure eyecandy, omnomnom. Saw it earlier today but was unable to comment at that time, too busy staring at pretty colors :V
Kinda wish it was a bit sharper around the edges, although I imagine it makes sense leaving it a bit blurry like that.

Ach, they're my favoritest things ever... So long and lean... Sexy as hell... And they just love it when you tell them. lol Their vanity is legendary, like the skraine. XD Those birds may only be about their appearances, but damn these drazi know how to push their bodies to the limit... And exceed it, most of the time. These babies are nothing but skill.
