Do you think you could intigrate a small sword or ritual dagger in his hand without the gauntlet, I think that would go well with this pose.

For the background I was thinking a sunset (deep oranges and reds) that fades to a shadowed land mass (like a sillouhette of the trees or mountains)
I don't care if the background is not detailed, I would prefer the character be detaile (like it is) and the background sorta blury, to keep peoples eyes focused on him.

Like color? O.O I normally do traditional shading like black and white, but if you reeeeaaaaally want it colored, I will do it. I [hopefully] get a tablet next week, and I can do something then. Or I can do both.

And I will get those suggestions in :)

btw...I gots some paint yesterday. and I should be mixing up a small batch of latex to get this started.

It's the little things I'm noticing. You're adding details here and there, your facial expressions, etc. I can tell you are learning - it shows. :0) Keep it up.
I started drawing furry in 1997, and two years later I got a chance to meet the artist that inspired me (to the point I became a fur myself) and I flat out asked him: "What can I do to make myself better?"
He answered: "Practice, practice, practice. The only way to improve is to keep drawing - the more you draw, the better you will become."
Simple advice? Yes. A no-brainer? Probably, but some of the best advice I have ever gotten from another furry artist.

I hope to meet some of the furry artists of the fandom one day.
