Scene from GRUB: The Movie
Grub will never leave his best friend's side, even if it gets him in trouble, as it does in this scene from GRUB: The Movie (which exists only in my deranged imagination). Here he brings her to his homeland, where all the other Grubs are very surprised to see her, except for the odd one in the background who hasn't noticed.
I have to apologize to
toddlergirl for drawing her yet again without giving her a chance to draw me in return. Really, Gem, it's OK. I drew this because it was a fun idea and I didn't want it to get away.
I got this incredibly silly idea earlier today and decided to draw it out. I did a variety of things differently here than I usually do; the lineless painted style here truly requires a lot of layers. Notable is how I drew Gem: I did a stick-figure sketch, went from that directly to an inked version, and then removed the ink and filled out the painted version. I drew and shaded 17 puffballs for this scene!
Oh, and by the way, those aren't columns on either side of Mayor Grubbsworthy's door. They're cater-pillars. (Blame Fox for that one.)

Yayy I was hoping it would make you laugh! The idea made me laugh when it first popped into my head. I mean, for a while I've been thinking about whether there could be different Grubs with different color combinations and different personalities, but I didn't know what to do with that idea, and then suddenly this one appeared.
The one on the unicycle also came from that strange place in my imagination where I'm half thinking logically and half having random silly ideas. I mean, without any arms or legs how do the Grubs do anything at all other than go about being cuddly? So I wanted to have one doing something that really truly made no sense. I think he does it either with really good balance and lots of training, or else by magic. I colored him red and white like a circus tent and later realized that he looks kind of like Homestar Runner. :) But it wasn't intentional.
It would be fun for there to be a movie like this! :)

hehe I noticed there seems to be a grub character in Reva's latest pic too http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8502224/ grub must have a lot of friends and relatives which makes sense cause it would be pretty lonely being the only grub
There had to be one like that because there are people like that in real life! Like a lot of people on FA. Lots of spontaneous, creative people here. But that Grub on the unicycle has worked hard to get where he is today. Think about riding a unicycle without any limbs. He'd probably juggle too, if he wasn't using all of his concentration to balance and move forward. He's gonna be the most famous Grub someday! That's why he has star antennae.
Me too. :) I even gave names to the other Grubs. There's Mayor Grubbsworthy, of course, but then there are Punc, Star and Spring. They've all got one-syllable names, like Grub does, and they each have special abilities. Punc's antenna turns into different punctuation marks based on his mood. Star is very talented and is a Grubshire celebrity -- he can juggle without having hands and is more or less a tribute to Homestar Runner. OK, I lied. I haven't figured out anything special about Spring yet. I keep thinking about drawing other pictures of them, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
