Check this golden brown loaf fresh out of the oven and imagine that wonderful smell wafting through the house from the kitchens of

This is a very good recipe that makes spectacular sandwiches and tastes good with wine or cheese and is sill amazingly good by itself
makes 1 2lb loaf
3 1/3 - 4 cups all purpose or bread flour
1/2 whole wheat or rie flour (i personally like rie better)
1 envelope dry yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup milk warm to the touch
1/3 cup water warm to the touch
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
3/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter at room temperature
2tbs cornmeal or semolina
Lightly grease 1 large bowl set aside
combine yeast milk and water let stand 5 minutes
combine flours and salt and butter mix for 2 minutes and add walnuts and onions knead 3-4 minutes
NOTE due to the fat content and moisture from the onions the dough for this bread is quite tacky do not worry.
place in greased bowl and over with plastic wrap and a clean dish towel
let rise 1 hour or until doubled
sprinkle baking pan with cornmeal or semolina knead an additional 3-4 minutes shape into a ball and place on baking pan
let raise uncovered for 15 minutes
preheat oven to 425
make slashes on top of loaf with a knife
place on middle rack and bake 30
lower oven temprature to 300 and bake an additional 30 minutes
or untill the loaf is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped
cool on rack
