Well, would you rather be dead or a werewolf? well, kinda unfair question for everyone that reads it here, but generally, I think most people would chose life. Besides, some wolfish perception is probably great for a soldier.

To be fair, if he's a soldier, he not only can still fight with guns and the like, but he has now has claws and sharp teeth as well and possibly wolfish speed and reflexes.

Though I would prefer after his TF he was given permission to go home. (Unless he doesn't have a home which is why he's fighting...) either way, he's been through a lot.

I wonder what the side effects are (o.o)
