so their ancestors were more dragon like? is the radioactive atmosphere causing mutation or is the environment favoring / selecting for individuals who fly (stay off the ground more often and away from heavier radioactive isotopes settling near the ground cause individuals nearer to the surface for longer periods of time being less successful in reproduction perhaps due to sterility? This is fascinating! I suppose in the case of mutation perhaps the same genes responsible for many of the features they posses are also more reliably "repaired" by the mechanisms of the cell than individuals who epigentics are inhibiting the growth of those more primitive structures? sorry im assuming they use DNA or some kind of replicating chemical mechanism as the basis for the life of these creatures?

u arr right at most of all, they are have more unique enzymes repairing their DNA and able to live in unhabitable environments than humans. but they are fully synthetic creatures in their origin, made from elements of genetic code of three different 'parents'. During the existence of their civilization their genotype was artificially corrected a lot but also many of fatal mistakes has been done...
So, their present appearance determined more by variability of original phenotype than by evolution: drake from Gabe who's spent their childhood on planet with higher gravity will be look more like their dexterian neighbours but he won't able to fly...
