From Russia With Lust, Part 19
This little sequence was just an excuse to introduce Konstantin.
The bit with the kids was originally somewhat funnier as we'd conceived it with little gradeschoolers. Then after we'd filled in the script, I remembered it was past closing time at the bar, and they had no reason to be on the street at that hour >.>
And perhaps is Giorgiy more intelligent than he lets on...

The joke also works with these two gun nuts ^^
Completely normal to talk to objects. I talk a lot to my PC. Usually stuff like "Why won't you $%!&ing pice of crap run / compile this?!?" and he usually acts all cool and says stuff like "Dependencies not met!" or "Exception thrown in line 473!"
I think it is a bit of a love/hate relationship ^^
And good to have you back :)

Vlad is talking to his gun, obviously he needs to talk to someone. I wonder what Konstantin was saying? Well, maybe Giorgiy didn't watch Doctor Phil, but maybe he'll consider taking his father. The gun talking may have been strange but it was cute watching Vlad have an interesting conversation about his brother. Oh Cody, sometimes it's best not to wonder why relatives talk to inanimate objects. . This next page has been long waited and worth it. Glad to see you're back on the comic.
Yeah, probably. I wonder if money wasn't the only reason Giorgiy got a job. . ... Oh yeah, I forgot to ask this earlier; will we also be seeing the rest of the cast from I.S.O. like Jeff, Jake, Boris, Nate, Doug's friends, and everyone else? Speaking of Doug, where did he disappear to?
Well, it's no secret anymore that Georgiy is just using his obfuscating stupidity as a front
It's nice to see that Vlad has a crazy side too... even if it's reasonable crazy, considering the explanation we're given ^.^
And yes... the scariest part ist that, all things considered, Vlad most likely is the sanest one of the group XD
Besides: OH MY GOD, Vlad has broken his Y-face for a second there when he was talking to Konstantin! (Everytime he smiles, a puppy dies.)

Georgiy, for all we know, could be a hidden genius... that would put him more closer to the opposite of sane :-D
Well, there are many different types of smiles. For Vlad, you could consider it a smile already whenever the corners of his mouth beant even the slightest way upwards... kinda like a shoetip. A shoetip-smile? Or maybe a very flat fruit bowl...

If Vlad says "Trust Me, I know what I'm doing" I'll squee...

++ oh.
was that a little too kinky for you, mr. suzukawa?
because i had just now thought of a way to reciprocally-extend that specific metaphor..
..but i'm pretty sure it's NOT SAFE FOR WORK ++
(giorgiy would be saying "Mmmm--mfff" in between breaths.
correct.
ah.
but seeing as he's already got such good stamina, iz no puroblim forrrr keetie.
{da?})
yeah.
it's not completely implausible for 14-year-olds to be out at that time of night.
nor for some of them to know so much about Guns.
the only reason why you and me aren't like them was, we didn't have nearly as much access to information as these kids do now.
when i was 11, i had snaked some playgirls from the royal farm; i was "smart enough" to get them out, but i wasn't smart enough to keep them hidden away from my grandmom — whom i was living with at the time.

"In Soviet Union, gun fires YOU!" Vlad has too many issues, his biggest one being he's sure he doesn't have any issues.
Great scene with the kids! Giorgiy is so FLUFFY, ALL the time! hee hee Big warm walking, talking plushie! Poor Cody, he's gonna feel like total merde in the morning. Another page of silly silly funness! Hope you and Dev had a good time together. How's he doing, by the way?

I'm...not sure it would be any funnier if they had been grade-school kids, since seeing ones that young knowing that much about, and fanboying over, guns, is...yeah.
Vlad somewhat has a point about criminals vs. those on the right side of the law having access to guns (though considering the things the KGB I did I'm not sure we can really consider Vlad ever having been on the right side of the law, or heroic), but beyond that...not touching the gun control debate with a thirty-nine-and-a-half-foot pole.
The fact he thinks his gun can talk to him, and uses it as an imaginary friend/sounding board, is...disturbing and sad more than funny, IMO. Does make me feel a little sorry for him, but overall he's still too unheroic and entitled for me to like him, and the fact this gun could be a euphemism for...something else...makes his personifying and talking to it even weirder.
Nice bit of backstory though from Giorgiy, revealing that Karl "left" Vlad behind, alone and with no one to confide in, to explain why Karl started talking to his gun. Still doesn't explain though why Karl left in the first place--you're sure holding your cards close to your chest on that one!
Loving Giorgiy's continued removal of his Obfuscating Stupidity mask to show the intelligent guy underneath it! Of course it wouldn't be so obvious if you hadn't revealed to us upfront that Giorgiy deliberately pretended to be stupid so as not to be inducted by his father's agency, but even without that it's clear there's more to him than meets the eye. Too bad drunk Cody probably won't remember any of this later. But then I guess Giorgiy doesn't want the truth known (even though I think he's safe from agency recruitment now) because he just wants to be a normal guy and baker, so he's happy to let Cody think of him as only that.
I still want him though. *cuddles that big fluffy Russian baker chest*

Hurhurhur, S'fun seeing Georgiy all psycho-analytical. Makes him all the more cute when he show's some of his smarts. <3
Konstantin, smart choice for inanimate, imaginary friends. And in that career, makes sense one would go ta tad coocoo. XD Btw, I adore the Karl's face in the 3rd panel! X3
And oh the stereotypes. I'm quite glad that one's NOT true. >.>
