Underwater Swmable Sea Dragon Full Suit *Sneak Peek*
A Sneak Peek at my upcoming suit line of swimable underwater "fursuits" After the seadragon is finished I plan to make two Vaporeon pokemon swimable suits. (I just know I spelled that things name wrong again..)
Time: 3 weeks (with days off) -- Cost so far is $1,100 in materials alone with mess ups and research.. X.X I hope to get the material cost DOWN a lot for future suits. Until I do I will not be accepting swimable commissions. Ya know.. because that's a high material cost man.. I want to get the seadragon and at least 2-3 other underwater suits finished before i accept any commissions on this kind of suit line.

YES ABSOLOUTLY! I'd actually REQUIRE you take a 2 week min. swimming practice IN a monofin. because inside the tail is a working monofin... plus.. yes certinally a risky fursuiting challenge! however.. the plus side is that The monofin and tail float and the head is rather boyant as well.. so on the upside of this you can rest relitivly easy.. think..of a log just floating in the water. All parts of the suit come off.. The tail is seprate from the upper body suit and the head is seprate from the body, with LOTS of ventilation. (It actually has a neat "warning system" effect. When you dive underwater the head fills with a rushing sound of water that has a few second warning your going 'under' -- vision is 100% perfect underwater and above with the screen i use. However when you re-surface there is a 2-3 second blindness while the water fades from the screen. (and yes I would always suggest using goggles under the head.) Those would be my safety notes for the most part... I can also make the body suit where your legs aren't in a mermaid like tail, but rather 2 back legs and a tail.. which is what i plan for the pokemon later on.
Hoooly crap this is a ballzy idea, but it is way cool. You know in marketing, they say the bigger the risk, the higher the profit... But whatever. Anyway! Yes, definitely go with friends. Like, a billion friends. The idea of a monofin boggles me let alone doing it inside of a suit. Keep in mind other suit aerodynamics like how the muzzle might make you turn if you turn your head.
If I get ritch sometime in the far future, I am definitely going to want one of these with my character. It's just an awesome, awesome idea. It'll be the next olympic sport or something.

Thankfully I haven't had any aerodynamic issues. The monofin is fantastic for propelling yourself and turning, rolling, and flipping. However you will need to first learn how to use a monofin outside of a suit in order to adjust safely to one inside a suit. As for the head I have no issues with it pulling or turning you left or right. The only thing I had to learn was not to hit my muzzle at the bottom of the pool!! The monofin can shoot you from the top of the pool to the bottom of a simple diving pool (around 12-13 feet) in all of one ..flap? of your tail.. so your at the bottom before you know it! o__o Which is where in you will want to learn to use it well (i say this again) before being in a suit.. as if you out at a lake.. and "flap" a few times your down like..15+ feet before you know it then you realize you need air- suddenlty the water surface is pretty dang far away... sooo thankfully you can "flap" a few more times and shoot right back up.. but yes.. a few underwater scares there. It would alsy be reccommended you always have someone with you playing "lifeguard" I swim with 1-5 other people all are in mermaid tails or my other suit prototypes but all have been swimming in such for at least a year - so for the very least they have the same sense you would in a regular fursuit to keep an eye out for one another. and for quadsuiters it's like a handler spotting a quadsuiter whos laying down or starting to wobble on their stilts. I will try and answer questions as they come in. Since this is a new adventure for me i know I haven't posted everything. But these questions and concerns are good! So keep them coming.
Otter Bay makes conventional diving suits for free diving and scuba diving.

They also make mermaid or merman diving suits that are like a wet suit that covers a person from the neck and wrists to the feet with a monofin.
