I originally created this for my ANIMEL WOMENS FOR FUN AND PROFIT series but... well... I want her myself. Dunno when I'll draw her of if I will use her for a anything... but beyond my love fo dem boids this is by a huge margin my favorite design I've done for the fandom.
You know....
People question the validity of selling characters off in the way that I do... and all I have to say to that is having been presented with several designs I'd rather keep than the hundreds, and twice thousands that were offered I realized that I myself hold certain value to my them which kind of justified it all if ever I had a doubt.
I wouldn't sell Mikhaila, my unfinished design of Tsampikos - a gryphon, Azza, Mara, either version of Blink, either of the two white rabbits or pink rabbit hybrid, and several other characters regardless of the offer... and I wouldn't get rid of this.
That's not to say the designs I let go of are inferior. Hell, the descriptions to some of the designs I'm keeping don't amount to more than the sentence it takes to describe them... it's just that there are some I see myself using in the future for one reason or another which is why I keep them.

To play devil's advocate here, and I don't mean to offend, I don't think people get upset by the concept of selling a character as much as the concept of selling a "throwaway" character. You yourself admit right here that you keep characters you feel are your favorites. I think a lot of artist ire comes from selling the ones that "aren't good enough" for the artist, essentially turning a failed design into profit.
Again, I'm not looking to argue here or anger anyone. I'm just trying to put the other side's words into perspective.

"Throwaway", "favorite", and not being "good enough" are terms you use for my characters. Not me. I don't think the strawberry swirl Jackelope that I've sold is any more throwaway than I think my black cat with white hair characters Azza and Mara or my two white rabbits, one with white hair or one with black hair are favorited by virtue of... not being failed. My fursona hasn't been drawn in a year and besides Mik all of t he characters I am keeping have been drawn 1-2 times per year. It's a testament to how little time and devotion I can commit to any specific set of characters... not to how successful they are as a design. I think that characterization is completely unfair... especially considering how much value people did put on the designs I've sold... some I can argue with have been much more successful than some characters I do keep.
As for turning those characters into a profit, well... there will always be someone getting upset over any creation or artist turning a profit. Some people get upset by the fact that I still draw breath... how dare I live while only being able to draw shiny animeblobs when superior artists exist... and etc. Fortunately for me I can chose to not cater works to them but instead to people who appreciate the work for what it is.

I personally don't beleive any of Tsams' characters have been throw away, I love the designs of all of them really! But thats just my opinion.
I have no real problems with auctions myself, it gives allot of people a chance at a character they may otherwise have a really hard time creating! Making a bunch of characters can even be fun for artists! So long as people find value in auctions it's a win-win for everyone.
The only auctions I don't like is when an artist recycles a template over and over while only changing colours and patterns.
In other news I really dig Swallow! You don't see proper wings and feet like that often, would lead to some very interesting scenes!

Like I said, it's not about monetary value. I'm sure if you sold Mik she would go for far more than any of your other adoptables. That's because value in this case is relative. A person buying a character you sold obviously finds great value in it. Often, if not always, you're offering something of greater value than buyers could create on their own. That doesn't make it more valuable than characters you kept. The perception is that these characters that get sold would have otherwise been dumped - failed experiments or simple doodles that don't go anywhere. I can take all the trash in my recycle bin and turn it into money, but that doesn't mean it didn't start off as trash.
Again, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. I've always been a fan of your work and obviously you're going to get a level of unfair criticism equal to the level of your exposure. That being said, once you filter out the trolls, the people who legitimately have an issue with sold characters have their own perspective on the issue, and it's only fair to give it voice if you're going to make mention of it.

I do see where you are coming from, but as you said, its all really a matter of perspective from the individuals. Though something may be seen as trash to one, as the old saying goes, "One mans trash, is another mans treasure. Even if she may see it as trash, the next person will see it as a masterpiece. The way I see it in my own opinion, even if she is not fond of one character she made and decided to sell it, does her personal opinion on her own design really change anything about the character? Even when some other persons opinion on the character design is the opposite? Its like some people liking chocolate or not (I hate it :3). Even if she doesn't like it, as her own creation, I believe she is entitled to do whatever she wants with it, regardless of her fondness if it. In the end, if both parties are content with what they consider a fair trade in their own perspectives, is there really any wrong doings?
Really amazing character!
To be honest, I would like to see more of your Gryphon-character actually.
You didnt' draw any Gryphons or Avians (except of the SexyFur ones) pretty much and it would be great to be in practice for you and great to see for us regular users, to see something different. Mikhaila is amazing but people will be fed up to see her everytime. And for you its very nice for sure, to draw some different as well. :)
I like the picture and I hope you will draw more different stuff in future too :)

If people are willing to buy it, you're perfectly at liberty to sell it. :) I just think a lot of artists get excited about creating their own characters, so they don't understand why people would be interested in spending so much money on premades. But I say, if you come across a character smeone is selling, and it inspires you, its definitely worth paying for. :)
