It's the style I settled on for the pet project. Using colors afterall yay!

The ugly gradient marks are only there because I have as of yet chosen a color pallet so I'm still using gradients and airbrushes to figure schemes out. Something I gotta change when getting this under way since PIXELS are too important to blemish with bad gradation. Part of the method getting this look is several rounds of flattening, resizing, changing the color mode to indexed, then sizing up again at a specific ratio which... well... kinda bit me in the ass when I realized the blotches were still in.
