Here's a song I wrote over the summer.
This is my favorite guitar solo I've ever recorded. MMMM Actually sounds like I know how to hold the instrument.
Tell me what you think.
Lyrics:
Got a steel machine runnin with a man in hand
wheels turn faster than his head can stand
got that rare elixer, got that devil’s eye
drowning ears never heard the other cry,
too old to live and too young to die
too old to live and too young to die
Chorus:
Oh(A) oh(C#) oh(E) oh(D)
You never can give it all
Oh(A) oh(C#) oh(E) oh(D)
The steel machines are there to break your fall (ending on lower A)
Got a steel machine runnin, gonna bear the wait
hours no faster when the pain is great
Can’t leave unless you play the game
clip the fuse and hold back the rain
but the message always reads the same
but the message always reads the same
Chorus
(Solo break)
Been 21 days since I saw the man.
cut him wide open, have to dig again
seeing what he took, and what the other gave
still proud to call himself a slave
you don’t get to buy yourself a grave
you don’t get to buy yourself a grave
Chorus x2
Rhythmic outro:
hold me darlin’, hold me tight. Tell me everything will be alright. (repeated endlessly)

Feels to have elements of both dirty hard blues and a dash of bluegrass at its heart. It is a fantastic song...shit, no, its a brilliant song and one of your best by far. This song has the heaviness that just flows, the kind of heaviness that makes The Color Red so rich to listen to. [I'm going to break off of this comment and make my interpretation of the song a separate comment]
Dude you probably listen more thoroughly than my own parents to this stuff.
This is a case where I had a clear immage of the somg in my mind and tried my damndest to make it a reality. Took about a thousand takes on the solo but it was worth it. Group vocals were fun and it made tge production value of the song go through the roof. Very happy with this song and I'd love to hear your interpretation.
