I saw this fine fellow at the Bronx Zoo a while back. He (or she--I won't pretend to be able to tell the difference) is a Guira Cuckoo. I was attracted to it by the incredible sense of motion in the lines of its feathers, and when I saw it I instantly wanted to paint that same motion.
