Just because a fandom is crap, doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy what you like. Letting others dictate what you enjoy is the barest form of conformity and isn't worth the breath. I'd keep those things up (Though I imagine it's too late) and keep enjoying MLP while accepting that, yes, the fanbase is like... 70% crap. That's what I've done.
