I know. They never seem to address that. But I think he jumps between each "disguise" when he has need of it, like keeping an eye on Alana and Lance at school or acquiring information on their new surroundings.
I remember Octo starts to get into something with one of the neighbors. :P

Yeah, he joins Ilana and Lance at school sometimes, but when he's holding down the fort at home being forced to listen to Barb's talking, where does the school think student Octo has gone? Doesn't he realize this isn't a good idea...
He also befriends a guy at school, and coolest of all he gets a girlfriend!
Normally I'm opposed to having the nerds gain girlfriends to enhance the plot (Ever see Big Bang Theory?) but the fact that it is a growing experience for an artificial lifeform, makes it appealing to me!
Would have been even cooler and more progressive if he got a boyfriend instead; and being a robot, doesn't see the problem or care about them being two guys, seeing as how he's technically neither, it's a moot point to Octo...

On the boyfriend subject, it makes more sense that he would be drawn towards a girl or that he would have a girlfriend, regardless of his real lack of any actually gender simply because he would likely see that as logical because of a male's and female's natural urge to mate and become mates. They could still address the idea that two men or two woman can be together, but we're still getting used to the idea as whole in our society. In the future this could change as more and more generations get used to it, but for now it's fine that he just has a girlfriend.
It is a bit of a plot whole unless he manages to be in several places at once or is allowed to miss classes, possibly due to him acing his classes. At times though the show seems more like a satire of giant robot anime which has similar problems regarding the characters doing things or getting away with things that are never addressed and would normally be an issue in real life. This is on top of other random things that make one scratch their head. In that same episode, Octo is getting his dialogue regarding Lance's problems with Alana from the TV and it's right there with a volume that's likely high enough for Lance to hear and it never dawns on him that Octo's taking pointers from a children's show. Granted he's not as familiar with Earth customs as Octo is, but the fact that he didn't think it seemed strange just tells me that they're again bending the rules of reality for the sake of plot. :P
I'm okay with nerds getting girlfriends, even attractive ones, but it can't be forced or is simply an unrealistic pairing. There has to be a good reason the attractive girl is choosing a possibly less attractive nerd over the more attractive jock or bad boy. His intellect or kindness is a possibility, but in my expereience, girls go for looks and confidence before personality and intelligence. There are exceptions of course. Women are as different from each other as they are from men sometimes and visa versa.
I think Family Matters might be one of the best examples of a realistic pairing between a nerd and an attractive girl. Even thought Laura reject Steve for years, as she got older and matured and Steve showed more and more how good a persona he really was (despite being clumsy and sometimes a mad scientist), she eventually decided he was the best man for her. Not all nerd/cute girl pairings should be like this, but it shows that nerds have to work harder due to the things they lack.
No, I tried watching it, but it kind of annoyed me. I'm a nerd myself in some rights, but not to that degree. That's not just being a nerd, it's being an eccentric nerd. Besides, the one who comes across as a bit of a pompous ass...what a douche. :P
I might be missing something having not seen more than an episode or two, but I'm not a fan of superiority complexes and insecurities. Doesn't matter what it stems from; wealthy, athleticism, intelligence, sexual prowess, etc.
I'm ranting now, so I'll just stop. XD

I suppose you're right... He does do a lot of research on humans so I see your point there. (He could have secretly made another identity, as a female, to study human behaviour further...)
I think I remember something about him having some kind remote control hologram, so he was able to sneek out of class during monster attacks, but that still begs the question of when he stays at home...
The tv being loud enough for Lance to hear could be one of two things, either Lance was so out of it he haden't noticed, remember he was moping quite a bit (he turned his smiley breakfast into a frown), or they were making a subtle reference to Fight Club where Tyler Durden is telling Ed Norton's character to tell the doctor that he fell down a flight of stairs, and he repeats it to the doctor like he didn't just hear the other guy say it... but more than likely it's the first one...
Well 3 of the four main characters have had girlfriends the past couple of seasons, while the series started out about the nerds being hopeless in the field of romance... And the third, the Indian character Raj, has a "boyfriend" that is to say they are such like a couple, just without the sex, and for somereason never seem to realize what is really going on... but I digress...
I did love Family Matters, and loved how Steve won over Laura eventually (though Stephan had quite the hand in making that happen) and the show was always good for a laugh for me growing up.
Don't worry about it. It was fun. Enjoy that cookie, you earned it! (See above, in the caption)

Thanks, I did this one a while ago... it was sitting around for a few days now... But I wasn't sure anyone would recognize them...
So when I was uploading Doomstar's birthday present I decided to scan it too, so I had to shade in the eyes and the penguin girl's body. Boy was it a mess cleaning up all the smudges... and I still didn't finish it all, Breezy is still a little messy looking...
