The top engine for the Challenger in 1970 was the Hemi, an expensive but very desirable option that was a terror at the dragstrips. In the 2000s, Chrysler introduced a new Hemi, and it was a perfect fit for the new Challenger. The SRT8 version uses an enlarged, 6.1 Liter Hemi as its powerplant.
