Dee's programmed in a few ways to activate and control it - from verbal commands to pulse-code abdominal squeezes. In general, it moves itself through her esophagus; working out how large a reservoir of lubricant was part of the experimenting she was doing in that set of pictures. Depending on what commands she gives, if she throws up, the mini-bot can either go with the flow or hold its position...
... and I'm sure there are plenty of other useful complications that I haven't yet thought of, which I'll avoid explaining by saying that she wants to keep as much about the mini-bot secret as she can. :)
