mailwoman's run; Casino Island, Spontoon Island Atoll
Look! More Spontoon Island stuff!
A mailfur on her delivery route on Casino Island.
The background was started first. There was no real plan for this drawing...it just sorta came out....the squirrel girl was put in as an afterthought (that's probably why no thought was put into her uniform colours). The street is made up of crushed coral, which is why it's light coloured (off white).
Minor nitpicking aside, I do like the squirrel girl...perhaps she'll appear in more pics.
Where's her cap? And why's she in the middle of the road?

That could be good. Airplane stewardesses had "high-power" fashion design in the 30s & 40s. They were likely supposed to radiate both 'service' & 'authority'. The uniforms were supposed to assist that. The Althing might want that combination for their mail-carriers. This is pre-postal number codes, and the senior mail carriers might stay with one route for many years. They might have the authority to track down forwarding addresses.
It's also likely that the uniform might evolve & change over the years. The Althing could also have different mail-delivery uniforms for different areas. Casino Island would see a lot of foreign visitors. Main Island might have a different standard for a 'uniform'.
In the USA, there are different acceptable uniform accessories depending on the work & weather. Now you can sometimes see mail carriers wearing shorts and pith-helmets (!) in hot weather. Don't know if that would be economical in 1930s Spontoon Island.

I think that fits well, and would work well. Uniform is partially so visitors are aware that there is a Spontoonie civil service.
The contributors have decided that part of Moon Island (west part) is civilian housing, so there would be Spontoonie mail service there. The Rain Island Naval Syndicate would have their own postal service, with some sort of exchange of mail at Moon Island.
South Island has some of the tourist reports, and part of the tourist appeal is that the setting is more 'native'. On South & Main Island, the 'uniform' is probably the mailbag.
Plus (optional) one or two other 'uniform' items, like a clothing patch, clip-on badge, or distinctive cap or hat. Or sturdy postal service shoes. Maybe a distinctive patterned cloth for sarongs? I do agree, anything like these would be likely up to the mail-carrier.

As Kenoscope says (below), it's on Casino Island, maybe half-way up the hillside. A lot of the locations are very fuzzy (especially in the Double Lotus?).... It might help writers to figure out where some of the places are on a map, but I wouldn't want every location to be mapped out. There needs to be some vague areas that new writers can expand into.
Most of the locations in the text stories don't have very specific locations, unless the writers have done their own estimates. That is one of the values of the "Writers Guide" - all the various clues for where places were could be brought together.
