Every culture has had an apocalyptic ending. Just seems that the only two that have been listened to by the masses has been the Mayans and Christianity.
And the Mayan calendar was quite different than what we have now. They also did not have watches and such and they did not have the days that we do.
Science however can be just as bad at creating hyped up problems. And science does not know everything, and cannot account for everything.

I blame the new agers more then the religious for the end of days nonsense with 2012.
Even the Mayan native Americans, many whom still worship the old gods, knew it was just the end of the calender.
Course one should also be careful placing so much faith in a man-made thing. It has a tendency to break when you lease expect it.

I don't believe in God anyway I think its just some nonsense because people didn't know what anything was they didn't know what science was they didnt know what technology was! We are a very superstitious breed of animal and thats what has gotten us into this mess because people could not accept death being the end, I don't support it I HATE religion its part of whats wrong with our civilization! But this is just MY opinion other people can believe what they want.
