Not that I expect anyone to even read this. From the middle of 1994 until early 2005, I was a very active writer on the now defunct Usenet Newsgroup, alt.devilbunnies. I had several dozen characters on both sides of the Sekrit War™. One of my favorite was a gray squirrel I called Aldin Busheytail, whose name I've used for my account here. It's hard to explain the world of alt.devilbunnies in a few short sentences, so I won't bother to try. Suffice it to say, I was not nice with the "toys" I played with in that particular sandbox. I was not afraid to torture, maim or kill-off characters. I had been referred to by a few as an Evil Author™ and I wasn't afraid to use that term for myself or anyone else who wrote in that world. Most of my story ideas came to me as dreams. Then one day in early 2005 as the group was dying off due to RL getting in the way of other participants, the dreams simply stopped. And this occurred part-way through a story I was working on with another author (who eventually became my wife). I joked about it being a case of the characters having gone on strike. But sometimes I wonder what really happened and why I was never able to at least finish the last tale. Maybe this very brief, few paragraphs long tail...er tale is why.
I really miss writing about this nutcruncher and the alt.devilbunnies universe. Aldin, let me back in (pleadflick) and I promise to not be so much of an Evil Author™ anymore.

I'm glad for you. Alas, it's not that simple to me. It is as if the characters have shut me out of their world. Maybe the the follow-up story was too ambitious. Able and I got about half-way through writing it before the characters simply stopped "talking to me". I'd love to release what we have written in the hopes it would inspire me to find where the rest of the tale went. But she doesn't want a half-finished tale released and I'll respect that wish.
