Name of the Tea: Chocolate Monkey
Type of tea: Rooibos Fusion
Loose or bagged: Loose
Brand/maker: Art of Tea
Where to get it: Amazon.com
Cost: $11.19 + shipping for 3.5 OZ in a nice metal tin
Description: This is an organic dessert tea with rooibos tea, honeybush, cacao nibs, apple bits, banana bits, pink peppercorns, and chocolate seeds. Note: Rooibos teas are usually caffeine free but this tea does have SOME caffeine from the chocolate.
Smell: The banana is the strongest smelling aspect of this blend with a nice chocolaty note in the background.
Taste: This is a rich, fruity tea that reminds me strongly of banana bread. The chocolate is mild without being overpowering and the peppercorns add a nice zest.
Suggested Sweetener: Sugar. This is a dessert tea but I find that just a bit of sugar helps to bring the flavors together. I would avoid honey with this, I think it would clash with the other flavors.
Overall Summary: It was actually the addition of the pink peppercorns that caught my curiosity for this tea. It comes in a sturdy, double lidded metal tin with a clear plastic window in the bottom so that you can see the contents. I got far more tea than I was actually expecting to get (I know it said 3.5 oz but I somehow expected a smaller tin!). Its quite delicious and very much worth picking up for your tea assortment.
Final Score 1-10: 8.5
