It figures... the only time I draw something half way decent is when I do it somewhere I'm not supposed to be doing it. This one? Done at work....while the corporate big wigs were in the front office....while I had nothing else to do at my desk and had to fake looking busy. Which you can tell where I had to stop coloring and immediately either flip it over or hide it underneith other paperpushing objects.
And yes I know her color scheme is way off. I'm still cheap...and have a limited range of colors too use in my markers...plus I'm still trying to get used to the hues. I swear that yellow I pulled out didn't look as dark like that on the...wrapping.....thing...label? Whatever it's called.
But yeah the coloring is royaly screwed up on this. I'm probably using it wrong, but I don't really like the colorless blender for markers....I don't know maybe for highlighting (as shown on her two front legs where I tested it) but for coloring blending...yeah like I said I'm probably doing it wrong.

The colorless blender works differently based on the kinds of markers you're using. With Copic markers, it's more like blending watercolors together, so you need to be a bit more precise and don't go quite as heavy with it. If you're using Prismacolor markers, it's more like paint thinner (and smells like it too XP). It should be used sparingly in the areas you want to blend, and try to get it to go from one end of the area to the other. Otherwise, you end up with blotchy color like what you've experienced. The pic looks great though despite this. Especially since it was done in such a hurried environment. Definitely experiment with the blenders. They're great tools when you get control of them.
Wow, thank-you so much for the wonderful advice! I'll have to give it a try the next picture I use on it. I think you're right I was relying on it too much to blend in the shadow colors. I think part of my problem is I've been coloring with colored pencils for so long I need to get used to handling markers alot better. So this advice will really come in handy. Again, thank-you very much. :D
