Something tells me that after a couple thousand years of life, you might become a bit insecure about your age… also this is my head cannon for why she call herself princess when she always seemed to be written as a queen.

yeah, I know. personally it really bugs me because Celestia has always been written to be a queen(Faust stated such) and they just can't let that crap go. one of the reasons I liked Celestia so much was the fact that she kinda broke the stereo type of queen figures being evil... just you have to kinda call her that in general and not by name.
It was odd seeing Celestia wearing a CROWN of all things at the end of season 3 so something may be happening there.
I have my doubts about princess twilight staying, though, mostly because I can't see Hasbro wanting to have to remake all there merch with new Twicorn models, dumping tons of money into it, knowing it really won't sell any better if at all and also producing a large backlog of "obsolete" Twi merch, and if they where planning on replacing it all, why where they showing off normal twilight marked merch at there last toy far? I also don't see why they would want to drop the extra money per modal seeing how Twicorn is more expensive to make because of the more plastic required for the wings AND the tiara.
not to mention, for a series that just now hit syndication and depends on re-runs as a huge source of revenue would decide to change the look of there lead character and synopsis of the show to basically just confuse and create a weird separation between the series they are advertising with the old cannon which they still want people to be watching. It's also a common no no in "non-canonical" story by story driven western cartoons to make changes in general and when they do want to change something, it's common for them to make it into a spin-off or some other form of re-branding. pretending it's the same show just confuses there younger audience with the adds and promotionals (think how power rangers would re-brand anytime they changed there outfits and themes, or how Ben 10 made a spin-off when they wanted to make him a teen, or how now they are making "Teen Titans" into "Teen Titans go" when they wanted to make it more of a stylistic comedy rather then a more serious, action show.). there is quite a track record of cartoons that where cut short the season they implemented an aesthetic change, Kids tend to be pretty petty after all and don't like change much (I've already seen several younger relatives of friends who are in the target age, speak of their disgust towards the "change").
I think after the whole transformers debacle with killing off and replacing Optimis in season 4 kinda taught them to keep from doing that. they never tried it again from what I saw. other shows that made changes that ended up taking effect in the last season was Batman the animated series, Whatever Happened to Robot Johns, Ed Edd n Eddy in many ways, Dexter's lab (at least from my memory) etc. all of which I remember hating the changes along with my friends and stopped watching them around those moments (except for batman, that was before my time, though most people I know hated the newer art-style.). the only shows I see who gets away with change are shows that add new lead supporting characters to the cast, which really isn't changing anything then just adding to it. fairly odd parents and rugrats are good examples. in many ways, Shining Armor and Candice are more like those kinda changes, they're just new characters, nothing too big.
sorry for talking your ear off about that, but I still find this whole thing smelling fishy and I find this whole story to be very half-written and doesn't leave us fans with much to go on at this moment but rummer milling and head-cannoning that will probably be shot down when season 4 comes. it's almost best to just ignore season 3's final till the story is finished in season 4's pilot (season 3's final WAS the first part to a three parter that is going to be season 4's pilot.)

honestly i couldnt ignore it what with how touching the finale was in fact i swear this show is gonna get so popular that a movie is gonna pop out my little pony always gets movies some can be good like the very first movie and some can get freaking stupid like dare i say G3 movies ich! but ive had friends tell me the crown celestia wore was a coronation crown which again im suspicious about i wanna see more pinkie pie giving the middle finger to physics and casually shattering the laws of reality i loved when fluttershy just unzipped herself to reveal pinkie mission impossible style i so need to see that more in this show
we'll see what they have planned. some people have already rumored that a movie is coming out between now and season 4, though I doubt it seeing how McCarthy stated that season 3s final was a first of three parts and those other two are the pilots of season 4. I can't see how a movie could fit in with that, but you never know. making a movie that ties into the final and the next pilot would force people to drop the money to see it, so it's not a bad option to make money.
I do want to see the show focus more on being funny rather then epic personally. I hope the series doesn't get too hung up on twilight's importance and lets her friends have more of a role in the over all plots. I felt like the bast 3 pilots and finales didn't give the rest of the cast much screen time to be awesome, nor much roles to save the day with. I would like to see them be more useful, Twi can't and shouldn't be doing everything. it's why I liked the IDW comics, It gives a good amount of time to all the characters and makes them all feel useful and important... oh, and Pinkie dresses up as herself in a huge mascot costume she just had with her for no reason on the trip... so that she could be told apart from the changelings when they take her form... and she has one for RD and forces her in it.

oh i so gotta see an image of that as a fan of the art of disguise i love seeing that sort of stuff and pinkie pie doing it is just awesome pinkie pie is so chaotic and adorable shes impossible to not like i know people tend to look down on us bronies who get fan crushes on ponies but i cant help liking pinkie that way shes so cute and understandably weird i also heard nightmare moon is back i have no idea how thats gonna happen
