I wanted an easier way to cut ACEO cards out of my favorite paper without measuring and scissoring, so at work yesterday, I wrote a CNC program and made a fixture to make this. I Added the internal cuts to be able to do borders easily and evenly. It is made of 1/8 steel plate and is very sturdy and will stand up to xacto blades for a long time. Outside corners have a 1/8 radius. Is anything like this on the market? Would anyone out there be interested in these?
Let me know your thoughts.
NOTE: the card shown was not cut with the template! I wish it had been!

I feel out of place here in that I'm spending more time looking at the template than the art. My father owns a machine shop so I've done and seen a fair bit such. If I may ask, where did you get it done? You said you wrote the pattern yourself but most people don't have such machinery hanging out in the garage ;)
I ran my own machine shop(specialized) for 18 years. I learned to program CNC mills and lathes and have been running the production and prototype shop where I work for over 8 years. I design parts and accessories for motorcycles, write the programs for the machines (3 mills, 1 lathe) set up, operate them, and pretty much anything that needs to be done to them. I love my job! Fat Baggers Inc. (FBI) We make custom motorcycles and parts. I also engrave motorcycles on the side. :)
Very nice! Our shop focused around making various types of metal marking stamps. Most of the machines are older and not CNC, but I did fiddle with it some to make the pattern for a companion cube I then made on a pantograph engraver :p
It's very fun work IMO, and while I don't know that I could see myself doing it as a career, I do miss it.

I have only made just the one so far but I have just joined a couple ACEO trade groups on DA and will be doing one or two trades a month. As for commissioned ACEO I am thinking around $30. All will be signed and numbered starting with this first one. They will be as, or more, detailed than the one shown. I'm sure more so as I get the feel for them. :)
Thanks for finding it, I've been looking all over for it.
I'll make a trip up there sometime soon to get it, unless... would you like to be a guest on Claws & Convo?

interesting device. the holes remind me of a possible handle for pressing and easy adjustment on the paper. I guess that ain't impossible.
anyway, to be serious, I'd be interested, IF there was a demand of ACEOs off my hands. then again I don't advertize them, and have no inquiries... maybe I should create some, for laughter, and see if there is an audience for them.
do you have a possible price by now for that cutter? if all fails I can still give it away. :)

The price on the template will probably be around $5.75 but if it has to be shipped, it will run the cost up a few dollars and that's in the states.
I will probably sell most at cons.
The center hole is the physical center of the part but the other two holes are for screws to hold it to the fixture so it can be machined easily.
