10 x 14 color pencil (watercolor pencil for the BG)
A quickie photo to show progress. A lot of reflection on the legs especially. Much shading to do on the lower half of the body but I should easily have him done tomorrow and be well into the back ground. I'm going to try watercolor pencil for the first time for the BG, (scary!) but I have to learn to use other media to be able to grow beyond where I am now.
It was suggested a couple months back, that I do an oryx by one of my favorite artists.
I am glad of it and this won't be my last bovid! :)

good pose! and yes, oryx are among the most elegant people out there. :)
interesting details here. aside the blue markings (are they fantasy or real?) I find it remarkable what you did with the remaining afterclaw at the hands... must have been the first time I saw this. :)
also, hoof-nails. and real eyes for a change... nifty. ^^

Thank you! The blue markings are tribal paint and dye and each person has their own spirit marks that they design themselves when they reach adulthood.
Many antelope are truly elegant and next to the cats, are the second most beautifully marked family as a whole.
When I was doing the hand design for this guy, 3 fingers and a thumb didn't look quite right and I added the dew claw and "WOW that's different!" And it seems that it would also be functional. and it looked proper that they should have them. Thanks for noticing!
