Boy Scouts Likes 'Em Some Gi-raffes! :D

In honor of the Boy Scouts’ 103rd Birthday, the Union Pacific locomotive commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Front and North B streets in Fort Smith.
Iinformation on Operation Lifesaver, Railroading merit badge and displays of Model Railroading will be available. The event is courtesy of the Union Pacific Railroad, Arkansas & Missouri Railroad, city of Fort Smith, Sugar Creek Model Railroad Club and National Railway Historic Society, Boston Mountain Chapter.
Which is where I (and the gi-raffes) came into the picture... :)
Spent the day supervising the toy trains and answering endless questions from Scouts out to earn their Railroading merit badge (and the written quiz was surprisingly thorough, including questions about esoteric items such as radial steering trucks...)
A fun time was had by all, the somewhat glum look by Keith Johnson (Sugar Creek president) notwithstanding... :D

Oh yeah, good old Cub Scouts. I'm actually a counselor for the Railroading Merit Badge. They actually talk about some good things in that merit badge, like looking at a container for max weight, TARE, etc. and what that means. Also, how dynamic breaking works. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
I cracked up when I saw the nuclear containment vessels. I recall the searchlight car and the "pop open" guided missile or cannon car being the object of my youthful desires when I'd see the new Lionel train sets in the Sears Catalog "Wish books" through the mid 1960s. Do the "Nuclear" containment vessels still glow an eerie green?
One of these?

I wish. ;)
Though I do have this:

And I wanna get one of these:

Which, interestingly enough, had a drivetrain very similar to a Lionel locomotive, only using a steam turbine instead of an electric motor.

The latter is the model I was thinking about. I thought it was "Cool" that Lionel made several thousand models of the rare and unusual prototype. Anyhoo, there's a second hand store in Piedmont that has two Lionel train sets for sale. (Not really collector's gems, but good for parts.) I think I'll check them out for you.
