First you learn to smile at customers.
Then some of them start to smile back (unless they are a$$holes)
They begin to like you and treat you like a person.
Finally you begin to like those.
And quickly you forget that you are doing a job.
Not that this is a bad thing, but you need some detachment between work and yourself. Depending on your job that can go well or not so well.
In this case the situation is already problematic.
Dhaval works to gain his freedom.
Then he needs to get of this isle as he probably won't find another line of work.
What then? Even if he gets back home, he probably won't be able to stay there (even if he wanted)
And to even learn a new trade he needs money (I doubt he would want to live like an apprentice) and that is if someone takes him on as an apprentice at the age he will be then.
And that is if his time there goes smoothly, which is doubtful considering everything.
But... it makes a hell of a good story.

Wow, your shading is absolutely beautiful in these panels. You really use light in a masterful approach, it looks fantastic. And that fifth panel...I really feel sorry for him, for everyone in this story, that has to be forced into this life style. I can't even imagine what they have to go through...
Panel five..... T_T I want to hug him so much. Though he probably wouldn't enjoy that.... Still, he needs to be happy! And the fourth panel doesn't even look fake, making the shift all the more heart-wrenching. Definitely understand and empathize with Amon's take here. He really does care, even if he's given up hope on basically everything else. Don't give up hope, too, Dhaval! Please! <3
