I notice 'Hell Fights Back' isn't listed... did you pull it and I didn't notice, or...?

I made the retarded mistake of posting parts of it on Yiffstar when the whole thing was not yet finished. It turns out my muse abandoned that project and it very likely never will be finished. Yet I *still* get people asking me about it! So, it sucks for me to be constantly hounded, and it sucks for them because their hopes are all up over something that'll never see completion. I now tell all fledgling writers: NEVER serialize anything until it's already finished!!!

so yeah, I never posted Hi-Octane Mind Trip or The Demon's Chance here, which sucks because I'm incredibly proud of the writing in Demon's Chance particularly... <mumblegrumble>

So... why not post them?

Reason I asked about HFB, personally, is that scene where Razielphustar lays out exactly how the situation was and is to the girl, and he's so protective of her... it really made that story for me.

As much as I'd like to post them here, I don't want to get even *more* people's hopes up.

And thank you! As I said, I'm really proud of that one, especially the dialogue.

I think DL was the biggest emotional rollercoaster you ever put me on, though DitD and SVotLD are a close tie for second, and How It All Began is right behind those. Did you know that, after all this time, I've never finished Ghost Story? (I'll be reading that before and after work today, for the record)

"Demon's Chance" really drew me into your writing, Alex. That has to be one of the most beautifully written stories I've ever read, sad, heartwarming and heart wrenching at the same time. It's also one of the best stories I've come across that portrays assisted suicide - anyone squicked by the idea will say it's murder - as an act of love and compassion.

I've _really_ wanted to post Demon's Chance here, but it's the start of a story arc I don't think will ever get finished, and I learned from posting it on Yiffstar that people will keep asking me endlessly when I'm going to finish it. Plus, it's not really fair to my fans to essentially release one chapter of a story and let them squirm waiting for the rest.

I understand your reasons for not posting. But I still say it's one of the best pieces of writing I've ever seen.

A "Rage against the Heavens" story would open more than a few dumpsters of dragons - and dropping those two chapters from the continuity opens up an entire range of other possibilities.

you should make a hardcover/softcover version of your bartleby stories and sell them :P , always awesome to have a physical copy of a great story/s :P

I've thought of that before. The only problems would be designing a suitable cover, and of course the expense in getting the books made in the first place.

yeah have a chat with lulu and see the guidelines for it and what steps you can take to adhere to the guides (to a certain extent) also depending on the publisher you might have to go with clean illustrations lol (sucks but unfortunately a issue :P) i hope you can work something out with them (im going to do some clean book type stuff eventually through them so i won;t have gto worry about the maturity yet ^_^;; )

heya just thought to let you know that ive talked with artdecade and another person about lulu and thier rules seems you can publish adult work as long as the cover is clean and it is clearly told in the description

Golly! Thanks very much for the info. Making Bartleby into an actual book would still require a lot of effort, which I'm willing to put forth, but also a lot of money, which I don't have too much of. I know pretty much just how I'd want the book to look, and even have a particular person in mind to do the illustrations. But commissioning them is the real hurdle.

I'd say making books out of the Bartleby series (with deliciously naughty interior illustrations) would be absolutely fantastic (I almost said fantabulous, but then I would have to kill myself for being a complete fag. I'm not all the way there yet ^_^).

Once I get a job again, I will definitely help you out with money for these commissions, thereby removing your excuse. Hell, I'd help ya out just to see the illustrations themselves, never mind actually having an in-print copy of any of your stories.

I kinda suspected! If you do go with Lulu, it may be better to get inks only instead of colors, since colored printing costs a LOT more per page at Lulu, and that way you could stretch the commission budget further with Wolfblade.

Absolutely. I was thinking of a color cover with each chapter preceded by a full-body character illustration, probably done in pencil with shading.

No. See, I meant to follow through with that story arc, but it fell through completely and i have no idea if it'll ever be finished. I chose not to post them here because, even though I'm proud of them both, I *already* get too many letters asking when the storyline's going to continue. The whole thing's been a painful lesson to never, ever release parts of a story until the entire thing's finished. It's hard on me and unfair to my readers. :(

Also, to be honest, I may be a little burnt out on Bartleby. Mostly because that's all people ask for anymore. I just got done posting a whole new novel that I spent seven years on, and in the comments what do I get? "That was great! Now write more Bartleby!" It's hard to care about a writing project when you know certain people are just gonna slurp it down without savoring it and immediately ask for more. (This isn't directed at *you*, BTW, I've just needed to say this for a long time now...)

My usual reading approach is to read through once, then go back through the story and REALLY pick it apart. And THAT can take me a while. What I posted on Jason's New Home was a log of my first readthrough at normal speed, and even DESPITE taking a moment to go wiki walk and look a couple things up, I still went through it in one evening. I've been occupied with a bunch of other things lately, so I haven't had the chance to really digest it and pick the story apart yet.

I've torn through a Tom Clancy doorstopper in just over a week, a bit longer than I took for Dangerous Lunatics. Biggest differences: I was on winter break from school when I read The Sum Of All Fears and didn't have much else to do, so I could read six to twelve hours straight each day; I only had a few hours in the evenings between my day job to read Lunatics.

I guess that makes me a ruminant reader - I devour fast, digest a little, then chew the cud for a bit... *BURP*

Re: Bartleby... if I want it THAT bad, I'm going to roll my own! As I said, I have a few ideas, though the one I mentioned earlier is starting to look like an argument in favor of the Hemlock Society. I will have to balance that with the flip side somehow, but it's liable to turn into something similar to my JERKS story, following a bunch of cases at once. It's probably going to be too complex to pursue without LOADS of feedback. I wonder if it would read better if formatted as a stack of files from Satan's inbox... Hmm...

Since my DL story is getting close to the the polishing stages, I'm spewing ideas again.

This one came up the second time I read through Bartleby's Descent: a few facets of the Celestial Bureaucracy would be worth exploring. Zephon expanded on the Infernal side a bit, but I think the Reincarnation Bureau might be worth a nod. (I'll chase this fox down, but since it's your story continuity I'd better tell you first. )

Actually, since I've been unsure myself how I'd work that out, feel free to go ahead with that.

Idea occurs though: People you see who seem most contented with their lives are probably ones who reincarnated from Hell, since Hell's more likely to send you where you most want to go.

Well, I uploaded the image as the actual submission, and the libarary of links is in the comment. You can either list the stories along with the links, or do what I do, which looks fancier. To insert a link into a phrase, you put these tags around them (minus the spaces):

So it'd look like: [ u r l = http://linktoyourstoryhere]Title Of YourStory[ / u r l ]

Again, no spaces. I have to put them in here or else it'll format 'em and it'd just look like this.
